I have to wonder why he was playing wing with that good % in the dot. BTW, nice job on the research. Quote

Dustin Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago As an aside, one thing I like about Chyzyk is that he is a National Champion. He saw firsthand what a national championship team looks like. No one else on staff has that. 3 Quote

brianvf Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/bemidji-states-kasper-magnussen-will-transfer-to-und The best part of the article is this: Quote The 6-foot, 200-pound forward from Fredrikstad, Norway, has done most of his goal-scoring on the power play. In the last two seasons, 12 of his 17 goals have come with the man advantage — most of them thanks to his one-timer. He also plays with an edge and brings physicality, allowing him to play up or down a lineup. Get Lindberg and Magnussen to fill spots on those 3rd/4th lines, and UND gets even more dangerous as those lines will also be able to chip in more goals. From what I'm seeing, there were three departures that were by players that still had a role next season (Strathmann, Littler, Klee). All three portal grabs are direct replacements & upgrades to fill those three vacant roles. That's a portal win. 4 Quote
brianvf Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Magnussen added. 2 F and 2 D to go. Guessing that might conclude our portal additions unless an unexpected elite player enters or we don't land our expected CHL players. Forwards (13 of 15): SR - Magnussen, Menghini JR - Croal, Lindberg, Swanson SO - Josephson, Kernan, Reschny, Zakreski, Zellers FR - A.Schultz, B.Schultz, Simpson Defense (6 of 8): SR - JR - Boser, Emery SO - Laurila, Verhoeff FR - Lindberg, MacKenzie Goalies (3 of 3): SR - Sandy JR - SO - Spunar FR - Heil 1 Quote

Assuming we bring in 2 CHL studs. At D it’s a little more clear I think. 1 Quote

Although I've always thought since the day he commited that Brock Schultz is penciled in as the 4th line center and basically a direct replacement now for Klee? I think Ashton has some real nice upside as well. Guess it's just the new age college hockey where we aren't going to see the Dalton Andrew's on a UND roster moving forward. Quote

burd Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The appreciation we all feel for what Chyzyk has done for this program was earned. He has enabled a comeback. But there will be a tendency for us to think recruitment is the end-all. Great recruitment is necessary, and you can’t win a banner without elite scorers, but player development and high-end game coaching are just as necessary. That’s where decisions about “bottom six” players becomes so important. It’s really the “heart and soul” part of the equation. And if you doubt that, just ask burd; he’s just as clueless as the next guy. 4 Quote

I’m assuming they have a plan for Menghini. He’s a talented hockey player, but disappears too often. Hopefully he hits the gym hard this summer, and comes in with a leadership mindset. Quote

Yeah, while it's great to have so many talented forwards on the roster...you'll certainly end up with good players sitting each game which will lead to portal departures at the end of every year when players go searching for more playing time elsewhere. Looking at that F roster right now, it's hard to pinpoint which ones would be sitting...certainly no Andrew-type players that would be an easy one to call. Quote

The obvious targets would be Carels, DuPont, Ruck twins, and Belchetz. I would be ecstatic if we're able to land 2 of those 5. Anything more than that is just bonus. I'm guessing the staff has quite a few CHL "fallbacks" of players in case those big timers go elsewhere. Similar to the Ollie signing at the end of last summer...he was a player that no one had talked about before he committed, but he'll end up being a great player for the future here. Quote
