Their structure, at least when they play UND, is so strong. They don’t make positional mistakes or very few of them and when they do, Mbereko seems to bail them out with a ten bell save.

Side note: We’ve met Kaidan Mbereko a handful of times and he is genuinely a really good guy, particularly with the kids. This is Kaidan with my daughter at the skate with the Tigers event.

Good point. Sioux had won 8 straight while CC had not won a game since Nov. Plus, it’s a road game against a goalie who hasUND’s number. Something had to give and it did. Besides, can’t win them all. Lose again tonight at CC though and that’s a little troubling considering next wknd we face Denver.

Gonna need more from the forwards tonight.  
Too many shots from far away with no net front presence.  Get guys to the net and get some greasy ones/screen.

That is really cool. When Gwoz was coaching Denver and at a Final Five I ended up staying at the same hotel as couple of teams. I was riding the elevator at the hotel and had around 8 players from the Denver team in the same elevator. I hated Denver, but I realized these were just kids that played hockey. They were well mannered and courteous. I still hate Denver, but not the kids that play the game.

I was host couple for an old WCHA hockey player. There were 3 different WCHA colleges represented in bridal party. This bizarre animosity for kids who pick another school to play for has always felt so immature. Other schools usually have similar percentages of great kids as your team.

Main thing I noticed too, if you have a shot from the point with no potential of a screen don’t even take it. Need to do a way better job of taking Kaden’s eyes away

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I texted  @MafiaMan, and @Godsmack basically the same thing. I thought last night's game was exciting. Did we get the result we wanted, nope. However, I think that Spunar is the best goalie we've had since the 2019-20 team, when Adam Scheel was the goalie. I'd put him right back in tonight. UND is the better team than CC, they just need to bear down and take it.

The guys were too perimeter last night, they need to get to the blue paint and cause havoc in the slot.

I’m not fully sure what you’re trying to say here.  I’m not a Homer hater so maybe you’re assuming that? Verhoeff has had some ugly turnover and some moments where he punts it up the ice instead of making a play. Does that mean he should be benched? Nope just learn from it and keep getting better.
 

Anyways, Seems wise to go with the guy who has had the most consistency and let him learn and keep building. If it becomes a trend for him, then we switch. It’s also easy to forget some of the big saves he made when we were down by 1 to allow us to eventually tie in regulation.
