SDSU? ISU red? Both were highly ranked unless they no longer look that good?

SDSU without their starting QB yes fall into that category and Illinois State is not very good.  The FCS rankings are pointless as the majority of those teams are garbage.   When you have Tarleton State number 3 enough saud.

Even with qb1, would the Jacks been able to win that game?  Hate to say it, but I think we’ll need something special to beat NDSU.  Maybe that something special is the magic of the Alerus Center.

How many starters did the Jacks lose via transfers?  Anyone?  That wasn't a #2 ranked team.  Embarrassing for the Jacks.

Exactly and how is Montana State still a top 5 team after losing all world Tommy Mellot?  These rankings are a joke.

Its a Voodoo black magic, and its more real then I've ever seen at the Alerus.

IMO this game really didn't prove anything as SDSU was without their QB and top running back - yes injuries are a part of a season, just saying. Now would Moo U have won anyway perhaps since they pretty much shredded the SDSU defense anyway. Really think we have a great change to win at least 3/4 if not a little Alerus magic and win out. However winning at USD is next up, gotta go 1-0 first.

From Jacks Illustrated (15 transfers to WSU and 15 recruits flipped to WSU)  The NDSU game makes more sense now.  And take nothing away from NDSU, they looked really good and their QB play was fantastic.  33-game home win streak snapped and worst loss since 1992 I believe is said during the game.

It's actually pretty impressive that they are as good as they are with all they lost.  Obviously hit the portal hard.

They will beat Indiana St without their starting QB, but will struggle with Illinois St, USD and us.  Could be 3 loses to finish season if they don't get him back soon.

They could really mess up the playoffs if they get their qb back after losing a bunch of games with him out.

I skimmed the SDSU message board after Saturday's game, and they don't seem to think their o-line is very good this year. If true, regardless of who the QB is I'm not sure they're going to make much noise in the playoffs. The defense obviously also has some issues, even throwing out the NDSU game, judging by how many yards Murray St. gained two weeks ago. My guess is that they were a lot better early in the season (see Montana St. game as exhibit A), but once the inevitable injuries started piling up, they just didn't have the depth to withstand it, which is completely understandable under the circumstances.

I know some of the SDSU media have been talking about how mediocre SDSU offense has been all season. Often starting slow, and bailed out time and time again by their defense giving the Off time the ability to survive multiple bad drives before finally being able to put some together and pull away late in games.

Crazy obvious holding call missed on bison QB TD run to put the bison up 28-7.  Jacks have no shot tonight without an officiating crew that calls holding.

Lol, the one missed holding call was gonna make up 31 points?

I didn't hear Dom speak of any of this.  NDSU is hurting and crush the #2.  Nov 8th for the truth.

Once you've moved up like UND has, it gets tough to move up further without some help. Here are the teams ahead of UND in the FCS Rankings and their upcoming games this weekend. It would be great to see a few upsets to go along with a dominant UND win.

#1 NDSU (8-0) vs #18 Youngstown (5-3)

Can NDSU contain Beau Brungard? Does it matter? The Penguins QB is a one man show putting up video game numbers. It will take more than one man to put down the Bison, especially after the throttling we saw them give the bunnies last weekend. Is it possible? Sure. But I wouldn’t bet my own money on the upset here. As much as I would love to see UND beat SU as the #1 team, I’d rather see us move up the rankings and get a better position as we move towards the playoffs. Go Penguins!

#2 Tarleton (9-0) @ #24 ACU (4-4)

Tarleton is undefeated, while the teams they have played have gone a whopping 35-60 … woof! They have beat one team with a winning record, which was a 45-10 thumping over 6-3 West Georgia. They did beat Army 30-27, who happened to beat K State 24-21. The only other close game they have had this season was 52-42 over Southern Utah. Hoping to see a loss here, but Austin Peay may have a better shot of giving these guys an L in their last game. I get they are undefeated and have put up a ton of points, but they also haven’t played anyone.

#3 Montana (8-0) @ Weber State (3-5)

This has a Grizz win all over it, but a road game in the Big Sky … ya never know. Go Weber!

#4 Montana St. (6-2) @ Northern Colorado (3-5)

UNC may be 3-5, but they have showed improvement and come close in several games (Colorado State, South Dakota, Sac State, even UC Davis). A home game against the Cats seems like a great opportunity for an upset. Go Bears!

#5 SDSU (7-1) vs Indiana State (2-6)

I’m assuming Chase Mason won’t play in this one. I’m also assuming the bunnies don’t need Chase Mason to win. Though SDSU didn’t look like they could beat anyone last week. I’m assuming you will see a frustrated and angry SDSU team this week and they will take it out on the trees. SDSU defense looked awful last week, so I bet we see ISUblue score some points, but I’m sure SDSU will settle in and get the win.

#6 UC Davis (6-1) vs Idaho State (2-6)

Nothing to see here folks. While Davis hasn’t done anything to overly impress me, its ISU at home. Davis’s only loss is getting smoked 70-10 at Washington. It would have been nice to see how they would have finished against Mercer (15), but that game was cancelled. They have beat who they should beat but have done so by putting up points while also allowing a fair amount. Davis still has Montana State (4) and Sac State (RV) on their schedule.

#7 Lehigh (8-0) vs Georgetown (5-3)

Lehigh has won where they should, but I’m not sold based on my limited reading. Georgetown and Lafayette (RV) will be their toughest opponents left. It would be nice to see them get an L somewhere. It’s hard to take much away from an undefeated team, but SOS still doesn’t look to be anything compared to Valley teams. Personally, I’d have loved to see how they handle a team like Youngstown, because I think Beau would expose, but maybe I’m wrong and put on the MVFC glasses today.

Beat NDSU and we’ll move up just fine

Is that even a question this year?  Fairly easy shut down number 9, don't turn it over and it is game, set and match.   We handled Mr Everything with Youngstown State pretty handily.

SU has a lot better lineman and other players around him on both offense and defense.  We have handled a lot of good QB's this year though, but to think this game will be anything other than a dog fight is crazy IMO.  We will finally need a true 4 quarter game to pull that one out. At least we know Schmidt will have our team fully prepared!
