contrary to popular belief but jerry is the best athlete at the qb postion 3 years running now...even more so than romfo

he can really run...he can really really throw....he's a tough sob

Jerry’s top end speed looked pretty impressive in that run down the sidelines alongside Smith last year.

Considering that the guy that decided that simon "won the job" got essentially fired tells you everything you need to know about the talent evaluation IQ of said HC

day by day

Nope, he’s the offensive coordinator still.

if romfo starts in Manhatten i'll agree with you...if he doesn't me thinks bubba wanted romfo and he was forced on isaac.

we'll see i guess

2nd year of the system is typically better than the first. Offense explodes in 2025… just watch…

I would not be surprised to see Simon start at K-State and someone else start a week later at home. That's not to say Romfo did poorly but to give the going-forward QB1 some confidence.

I think we have talked about how QB competition is good, and the QB room is looking better and better ever since we had Bartles and Mollberg and yet we really haven't had any dominating QBs who have completely taken over games. I really did like Studrud and Schuster, but both had their own limitations. Hopefully we see some legit competition and see someone actually step up to be a real leader and take over games.

JTJ - The shiny new toy from the big school! Excited to see what this kid can bring, but we don't know much about him. I'll trust that the coaches see enough potential, or they wouldn't have brought him with, but he clearly isn't going to be handed the job either. I want to temper expectations because I was also extremely pumped for Quincy Vaughn when we landed him and he was not I was expecting at all. Played a great role and was a great guy to have on the team, but he was hardly the passer I was hoping for. Even as a runner, apart from the 4th and 1 situation, he wasn't going to run for yardage. Again, really excited for the potential here.

Jerry - We have been hearing about how good Jerry could be for years. Can Schmidt and company pull a KOC style move and be the QB whisperer? If the tools were really there, maybe having a different style of coaching will be enough for him to break out. I don't think we have really seen enough to say he is THE GUY, but hopefully! Concerning that he couldn't beat out Simon last year, but was that a coaching oversight? Some players may not dominate practice but know how to step up in live games. Hoping for a great battle between Jerry and JTJ.

Simon - Saw enough last year. Commend Simon for some of the plays he made as an undersized athlete, but this isn't a guy who is going to lead you to a national championship either. I do think there is a role for him in our offense as a swiss army knife type player. There is certainly athletic ability there and hopefully the coaches find a way to use him. Need some Freund type creativity to come up with some plays for Simon.

Sulik - I don't know much. Sounds like the size is there. Sounds like he has impressed some.

Another year in the system and I think he'll be right in the mix.

Sulik is the sleeper, "bet the grey horse" choice.

I'm not sure that he'll be the starter on day 1 or at all this year but I know the coaches like him.  Not sure if they rate him above the others but he's got a lot of potential.

Do we know if Simon will be healthy this fall?

We are fortunate that Jerry didn't hit the portal after being basically ignored last year.

And go where?
Maybe he likes and trusts the OC who told him what he needs to work on to win the starting role.

I don't know, but it's become an epidemic in colligate sports for athletes to hit the portal if they aren't getting enough playing time.

It's even more of an epidemic to hit the portal if they get lots of playing time and they're so good they attract attention from an FBS school.

If Jerry doesn't beat out Simon, Jerry was never the real deal.

I don’t agree with starting Simon in Kansas and then Jerry at home,  just to give Jerry an easier first game.  Either he is better or he's not. How would that look, hey Jerry we are going to start you in week 2, but we dont trust you in week 1. Whomever they feel is the number 1 needs to start week 1. Now if they perform poorly, then change it up. I dont think Schmidt is going to keep the ridiculous philosophy of never getting backup QB's in games that are already over.

Hopeless JTJ progresses dramatically in fall camp.

Would definitely be ok with Simon having some packages...similar to Boltmann. But they would be able to trust Simon to actually throw so it wasn't 100% guaranteed run all the time.

No matter who starts this year I have some comfort that Simon will be there probably as a backup. Nice to have that experience and he did have his moments. Like it or not but he might be more involved than many think because of packages and injuries - might be. And who knows maybe he has improved some.

i agree romfo won’t lead us to the promised land
