Didn’t he just accept a coaching position in professional hockey though?

You may be right,, I thought it hadd been a couple years.  He was pretty miffed at the portal,, i know that.  Would find a diamond in the rough, and a big name team would come in a swoop them up.  That's the reason he finally left, i guess

Wasn’t it John Cooper at Ohio State who won tons of games but got fired for one simple reason? -Losing to Michigan.

Yep.

Although if some of his better teams hadn't choked on their way to national championships, he might have survived.

My only requests for the new coach:

Go back to the Speed Kills era of Sioux hockey.
No more chipping it off the glass as a breakout strategy.
No more dump and chase as a zone entry strategy.
Let the skill players USE their skill.

No more grindas

Boy is Schloss providing the sand bags for Berry and providing the excuses pretty thick in his article.

Feom the article:

Quote

His .642 career winning percentage ranks third among the 64 active NCAA head coaches...

Three of the seven best teams in program history were Berry’s — 2016, 2020 and 2021.

Berry won five league titles, tying Dean Blais for the most of any UND coach.

Who knew that Tucker Poolman's name would come up in a Brad Berry is fired article.

You are not exaggerating at all. Listed every accomplishment he had as a coach and everything that went wrong.

Exactly. There is no point in recruiting skilled players if you aren't going to utilize their talents. And I think that might have been hurting us in recruiting in recent years.

Some names of the top of my head and not necessarily all would be head coach guys but more so intrigued to have with the next staff.

UND guys-Matt Smaby, Colten St. Clair, Bryn Chyzk

Non-UND-Nick Fohr USNTDP(GF native), Garrett Raboin, Mike Hastings

100% for sure it was.
Get a new coach that utilizes those players and their skillsets and you know the chippah commits will follow.

UND hasn’t often gone outside the family for head coaching hires.

Since 1959, UND has only hired one head coach who wasn’t previously an assistant with the program — Rube Bjorkman in 1968.

So only question is which UND family member will be coaching UND hockey next year?

I was just thinking Raboin would be an interesting choice

Regardless whom the next HC is, time to unite and march forward. A lot of people got their wish today with a change in direction for our beloved hockey program.

I was ready to cancel my season tix if no change was made……..

Giddy up

A badly needed change was made.

Now we have to nail this hire or it won't matter in the long run.

You would have to imagine conversations have been quietly going on for weeks, if not months with potential candidates. With portal opening next Sunday, is it possible a deal already in place with Hakstol?

Would make a lot of sense in my opinion.
