why is he good enough to coach in Fargo but not here?

1. he isn't coaching in Fargo, Brett Skinner is the coach.

2. if you haven't heard by now, it's no use in explaining it to you.

You guys are acting like this is an upstart program that needs to be built from the ground up. They're bringing in somebody who has collegiate coaching experience and knows how to win. Anybody bringing up St. Clair or Smaby as being the new head coach isn't serious about this program progressing.

If that were the case, no one would be available except for retreads (Hak, Jackson, Karl, etc.). The game has changed and it starts with finding a talented young coach(s) that can get out and recruit/relate to these young players.

If Hak is the guy, I'd love to see him add St Clair/Smaby as an assistant and then add Bryn as a GM role like has been mentioned.
Get the program back to being a national contender over the next half decade and then pass the torch to one of the young guys.

Someone has to be named interim coach in the meantime, so it's no small surprise that it was Jackson since he's got the most seniority of the remaining staff. Meaning he's maybe there to fill the temporary coaching vacancy & no more.

Am guessing that if UND were going to go with Hakstol that they would have already announced it, like they did immediately when Berry & Hakstol originally became coaches.

I don't think they can if it's external. Berry and Hak were Internal hires/promotions. The North Dakota University System makes them post for external candidates. It's supposed to be 10 days, but does allow for exceptions. Maybe they were able to get an exception to shorten it due to the portal opening the 30th, but I'm guessing they wouldn't approve of a direct hire to an external candidate.

That might work.

The same one's who wanted Hak fired a decade ago and got what they wanted with Berry being let go?
Some similarities to Nebraska football and Bo Pelini. Hopefully this works out better than that has.

Hardly comparable when talking Nebraska football and UND hockey. There is no reason UND shouldn’t be in the Top 10-14 every year.

I think this also excludes Dane Jackson from being the hire. If they promoted from within, they wouldn't be advertising the job externally now.

How can you say they don’t have fans just bc they don’t travel from Denver, Arizona, or Michigan.

2 of the 3 are playing bigger games next week. Why would you go to MSP, when you can see better games a week later? Ignorant statement basing of attendance last weekend.

Denver has never traveled well even to nationals.  Until Az gets some history, might too soon to tell. Michigan travels better but nowhere close to ND.

And you thought we had problems with players chasing skirts around campus…

That MafiaMan...he's incorrigible!:D

No reason to discuss Dane or anyone else currently on staff. You aren’t going to fire the head coach based on performance just to hire the assistant coach under him. No chance.

I kinda knew Bubs was in real trouble when J_Swish24 tweeted shade on him. 48 hours later ...

He had a bit on a podcast about meeting up with Hak and what hes doing and maybe having him on at some point...... would love to hear that one at a point in the near future
