I could be giving too much credit for Chaves with what happened with the football program, but we’ll find out in the next two days how loud the alarms really are within the hockey program. If they are truly loud, an announcement will be made and Berry will no longer be the coach. That sounds about right. If BB is going to be released, UND/Chaves would probably be announcing it this Monday or Tuesday at the latest. If we don't hear anything by Tuesday afternoon, that probably means in all likelihood that Bubs will be around next year; which would mean that all the big donors probably aren't whispering in the AD'S ear that it's time for a change. 2 hours ago, AJS said: Chaves is a bad AD and Berry is a bad coach, but no way Berry lets the program burn. That would happen if 1/2 of what is rumored takes place. Slightly disagree but I get your point. I would call BB's tenure here as being a slow burn, where the program is slowly being dismantled. It's not as alarming as an inferno because he still has regular season successes which are somewhat masking his total incompetency when it comes to the playoffs, thus why he's still here. I would upgrade it from a slow burn to an inferno if UND loses 2 or 3 core players like Boisvert & Livanavage in the portal this off-season, because these 2 are so crucial to the team next year. 1 Quote
Popular Post iramurphy Posted March 23 Popular Post Posted March 23 What has been a rumor that one player “hit on another player’s” gf has generated a copy of a post from elsewhere from some dipshit who claims he heard a rumor “from a friend who heard it from a friend”. Posters here have taken that rumor, embellished it based on other rumors and now I read comments about an NCAA investigation, sexual assault, legal issues etc. If any thing that egregious occurred, can’t we wait until we know the facts? I haven’t the faintest idea what happened and I don’t believe anyone else does. Something happened, but rumors aren’t evidence. If something illegal occurred in December, a complaint to legal authorities would normally have been made by now. Regardless of what occurred, why have we taken an initial story and turned it into a major scandal? UND doesn’t hide illegal activity. Often times, when there are issues, not even everyone on the team nor in the organization, know all of the details because, sometimes, it’s not anyone else’s business. We can still call for change, critique the program, coaches, players, etc without creating more fodder for opposing teams fan boards. 2 9 Quote

Many people know what went down at Judy’s, read the posts and extract the commonalities and you will find the truth. Playing grab ass with other teammate’s girlfriends usually don’t result in criminal charges. Players tend to take care of the problems in-house. 6 Quote

We don’t know if he manned up and apologized, took his suspension and the team moved on or if there was continued animosity etc. 1 Quote

I wonder if they’ll express any of the same sentiments as the fans here or if he will cite statistics that say we should’ve won the game last night. Not sure what he could pull out of that and spin it positive. TJ was good and that’s about it. We are soft on pucks period, and sure there were glimmers of past heavy highly skilled teams here and there but the overall body of work wasn’t good. WMU and DU remind me of UND teams of old that are hard to play against and can dictate the pace. 2 Quote

USHL was the best junior league that maintained college eligibility until that all changed...You will find first rounders in both the USHL and the CHL, but the CHL usually produces significantly more. Didn’t the USHL have more first rounders than CHL this past draft or year before? Quote

Popular Post 78 und grad Posted March 23 Popular Post Posted March 23 I also feel that BB’s a nice guy. But consider this. If memory serves me correctly, coach Berry & the a.d. wanted to allow mitchell miller(defenseman)to play hockey here. Nhl teams wanted this kid. But news media printed stories about how Miller and his friend bullied a disabled kid in ohio. Und president said miller would not play hockey here. Nhl commissioner said miller wouldnt be allowed to play in the nhl. But our coach wanted him. Into the mix, now add the crap that’s been going with players off ice. Maybe BB isnt able to make the right decisions when it really matters most. Things like this will ruin a hockey program. No wonder we dont seem to play well as a team. 2 6 Quote
NoDak Hockey Nation Posted March 23 Posted March 23 The vibe I’m getting from Schlossman’s reporting and the national media is that MacDonald is the only UDFA potential signee on this roster. I’d watch Boisvert and James as drafted guys to sign. I’d have portal watch on Komzak, possibly Hedquist. Quote
nodakgirl93 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 So with a new head coach and maybe coaching staff on the horizon any worry about current players and recruits bolting? Or you think they wait and see. I think we have some good committed players. I don't see a new coach pulling their spot. Quote

brianvf Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Now it looks like this after today's announcement. We'll need confirmation on all incoming recruits. Something tells me that Zmolek is in next season regardless of who is coaching. Forwards (0): SR - JR - SO - FR - Defense (1): SR - JR - Zmolek SO - FR - Goalies (0): SR - JR - SO - FR - Players with eligibility remaining: F - Boisvert, McLaughlin, James, Perron, Swanson, Strinden, Littler, Croal, Andrew D - Livanavage, Wiebe, MacDonald, Jubenvill, Strathmann, Emery, Komzak G - Hedquist, Huson Recruits that need confirmation: Zellers, Klee, Zakreski, Laurila 1 Quote

And honestly, maybe being surrounded by a staff that would give him that opportunity and a second chance instead of getting written off would have turned his life around. That’s pretty optimistic thinking, but I think Brad truly believed he could rehabilitate that kid. And maybe it would have? But that’s neither here nor there haha Quote

Have to retain Livanavage, Laurila will be a nice freshman coming in. Hate to speculate, but it's a fan forum, would Emery potentially transfer? Did fine, was a very young college player in the NCAA this year. UND's D-core will be deep, if healthy and that's a big IF with Zmolek, Zmolek is going to play. Komzak days are for sure done, he'll enter the portal find a new team, no disrespect to the kid. Quote
