Yet, Jackson has been at UND for 19 years and that is a OK?  An assistant coach at the same school for 19 years.

Could seem weird, but what they wave kids family I’m sure he made a decent living and didn’t have to move around as most coaches did

Wow has this thread turned into a lot of emotions! If the HC was an outside hire, I would have expected a lot more players to enter the portal…. Well, it is only Monday!

Who cares? This idea that underperforming players should be making these decisions is literally insane.

UND is among the highest revenue generating programs in all of college hockey, hell they are probably the highest! I know some will say "but the Big Cheese generates billions a year and no way UND can compete!", well hockey at the Big Cheese is usually an afterthought and all the NIL money goes to football and the left-over crumbs are given to the basketball teams....hockey there is irrelevant and less than an afterthought to the big donors and media.

So I call bull$%!# on the UND is getting killed because of NIL. Now I'm not from the area nor a fan of UND (but have upmost respect for the program!) and I'm telling you guys that this storm will pass and UND will be able to compete with anybody!

Expand

The only thing in your post that is correct is the speculation of UND position in revenue generation from Hockey...

EVERYTHING else is so dangerously dangerously wrong,.

This is Just the beginning... literally the beginning, people don't have to stay this ignorant.

Unfortunately the revenue, and net income, from men's hockey has absolutely nothing to do with NIL $.  The NIL$ needs to come from private donors.  It does not come from the institution.  Apparently other schools have alumni with deeper pockets who are willing to throw their money at college athletes.

This program brags about how many NHL players it has produced and they supposedly bleed green.  Time for them to start putting $$$ where there mouth is.

Yes, and those donors are especially interested in football and to a lesser extent basketball. NIL in college hockey just doesn't dole out much cash. UND has very rich alumni who are very well connected to other rich alumni and I would argue that this isn't about NIL but rather locker room issues that will be sorted out soon enough.

UND will be back folks, and if you bet otherwise, well a fool and his money are soon parted....

Fans would be surprised at how much the former players actually give back to the program.

If it hadn't already happened, this marks the unfortunate turning point of when UND became just another one of the good teams in college hockey, no longer elite.  Given the current environment of NIL and portal it ain't coming back either.  Boisvert is exactly the type of guy that used to define UND.  Skilled and plays with an edge.  Him leaving is an indictment of how far this program has slid back to the pack.

Expand

Totally agree. But on the flip side, OMac and Perron were not the kind of players that used to define UND. Boisvert will be missed...those other two guys not so much.

If money is such a defining factor for Boisvert & other schools' alumni have supposedly wealthier donors than UND (which I don't believe for a second), then why did Boisvert bother coming to UND in the first place?

Nobody knows here with certainty why any of these players are coming or going, unless you're the actual player or someone in his circle.

Per a player on the team, Boisvert left for money. UND is not giving players 150 grand a year. Money talks.

Exactly! Again I'm not buying this narrative of UND can't compete because of NIL!
