I did send an email to him back then though trying to push him to apply and he actually responded. That was kind of cool.

That is cool! Sure would love to have him here!

I think money would have been an issue. So yes and no.

money was 100% an issue. from what i hear there were talks and he was high on the list but he wanted too much money. looks like he is making about 100k more than sather which i think would be worth it but it's not my money i guess.

Part of the problem with our programs the past several years is that they have a great performance and have peaked the interest of the fans, but they subsequently can't capitalize on that and sustain any momentum going forward.  Hopefully this is different, but just look at many of the game threads from one game to the next, and you get optimism, then it turns to pessimism shortly thereafter.

Yep.  Same problem as the football program.

I think if the FB hire doesn't work out, he'll be gone.

Yes.  That was his last chance to make a splash hire, which appears so far he did.  I think Chaves' job is safe for at least 4-5 years.

If I were Uncle Andy I’d leave the current contract with the AD in place, which goes through June 30, 2026 I believe.

Congrats on putting on what appeared (on TV at least) to be a great event.  It made UND and the Summit look great!

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere, but was the contract between the two schools strictly a "2-for-1" deal, with two roadies in the future at Bama?  No money changing hands at all for travel expenses, or any "guarantee money" for either school?  If so, a rarity these days - well done!!

We get $30k per trip

Sounds fairly standard for a good old-fashioned "home-and-home" series like we used to see back in the day (though $30K will hardly pay for a roundtrip charter flight, hotel and meals for a traveling party of 40-to-50 people).  I'm guessing Bama got something similar from UND for this trip?

Part of my reason for asking is that the networks sometimes get involved financially in marquee match-ups between heavyweights in the power conferences,  But with this game being on the CBS Sports Network, one of the minor "national" platforms, I kinda doubted they were ponying up any money for either school for this one.  Is that accurate?

In the SEC they say as an Athletic Director you only get to hire one football coach.
