"Ranked by ESPN as the 16th best dual threat QB in his class in the country."

Surprised Tom didn't mention my stat from yesterday in his article.

If he can't find a guy to beat what I just watched this year, we in trouble.

If Romfo is the starting QB next year we will quickly know Schmidts Head Coaching abilities.

Exactly.

Shouldnt be that hard with today's portal to bring in someone who's better than Romfo today.

Guess I was correct. It wasn't hard to bring in someone who's better than Romfo today.

Schmidts done good.

He cleared a very low bar that was obvious to most people on this site.

This a blue chippa?

Not that much of a game changer, but better than Romfo.

And has one of the key aspects in the evolution of football, "dual threat."

I think Schmidt sees what we all see, we need better athletes, build more team depth and get rid of complacency. I also think he feels the same with staff, where coaches need not only passion but the want to get better at their profession. I like so far what he is trying to do.

Any stats or video?  Seems like a bit of a ghost.

Just saw he was the scout team offensive player of the year his true frosh season.

Undersized but I'm guessing he can scoot. Maybe a Red Wilson type?

I never said there isn’t a spot for the guy on the roster. I disagreed that we would be “salivating” over this guy if he would come here.

There isn’t anything impressive about his performance so far. Didn’t throw a pass at USC.Its obvious he wasn’t in their plans. He  left  at BYU without playing, was an ok JC QB and is a couple years older than most juniors. That doesn’t mean he couldn’t be a “hidden gem”.

I stated that without reviewing film, there was nothing else to go by and I’m not pretending to evaluate this guy beyond a Quick Look at what’s easily available.  Other than the fact that he was on the roster at USC, what would get us excited about him?

I am the one who started this I guess as I said this board would be salivating if we got a transfer QB from USC. I wasn't saying the dude was a fure sure top notch guy, my point was more that other FCS schools would be getting drop downs from big name schools, meanwhile in the past we were bringing in D2 guys. Schmidt is obviously changing that already. But a month ago if we found out we were getting a QB transfer from USC, you are crazy if you don't think this board would have been excited as hell about that. Doesn't mean he would have ended up being our savior,  but we would have been excited. I mean what is the biggest recent transfer we've been excited about lately.....maybe Eilioder from USD?

Not opposed to bringing in the right D2 guys at times, there can be some gems. The Winona State guy could be good.

Nice to see such a huge change in momentum for UND football the past few weeks. Makes the Bison winning another title in January slightly.....slightly easier to bare.

If you as a FCS program get a QB who is interested in dropping down and joining your program from a P5 conference you basically say....when can you get here. Those kids are 100% worth the roster spot to see if they can stick or not. No need to over think this. If he routinely throws a 25 yard out 18 yards you have your answer pretty quick.

Good get by Schmidt landing Javance. Kudos to Coach. Not a P5 school (USC sucks) drop down but my point above still stands. This kid is obviously very talented.  Definitely worth the roster spot and the opportunity to compete here. My guess is his HS stats cleared the criteria for recruitment and his SDSU BIO page was lit (as they kids would say) when I checked. He'll be here for fall camp which is the true and only measuring stick in the evaluation process for the starting QB position. As @gfhockey texted me at 230 am on his Uber ride home (don't drink and drive) "We gut oyr guyy Schnidt happpwns"

Just an amateur social media detective, but it would add up. By far the most action out of those that the coaches follow.

Probably nothing to it, but what I would consider the two highest rated DB portal offers just followed JTJ on Twitter. They were not prior to his commitment. Could be nothing, but could this be what momentum looks like?
