Going to be the wild west in the portal with all the FBS kids that will likely be forced into it with the roster caps. Hopefully kids are getting sound advice before making decisions, whatever they choose.

I think not moving guys to different positions has been a mistake we have been making for a long time. TE’s has been one that I’ve complained about before. First of all most TE’s played both ways in HS. Although it seemed like we threw more to them this year, they are underutilized in the passing game.
Some years we’ve signed 4-5 TE’s. If they aren’t getting on the field as TE’s try them at LB or DE.

We lose some guys who want to move up but I bet we lose more cuz they don’t get on the field even in games after outcome is decided.

It seems live everyone in the known universe knows this except Bubba.  I can't imagine what goes on in his stubborn head.

Answer there is quite obvious, especially when it comes to defensive coaches. And it’s not purely about X’s and O’s, it’s about relatability and forming camaraderie with the student-athletes; the current coaching staff, starting with the head man, appear to be significantly deficient in these important qualities. But, when you’re up there in years relative to the student-athletes and sleeping all day, then that will happen. And this isn’t a me versus them comparison, this is a them versus the field (other top FCS coaching staffs) comparison.

UND needs to be better.

Thoughts that continue to hold back the potential of UND football …

It ain’t just the old one that’s not up to snuff though. We do have some good ones too, don’t get me wrong, but some just ain’t it.

And when it comes to developing talent, when the Minnesota player of the year and the Wisconsin player of the year are sitting behind Romfo, what does that say about the ability of the QB coach to develop the position? Wasn’t Freund the QB coach as well?
Does it say that the QB coach can develop an ND 9-man QB, or does it say that the QB coach cannot further develop a player with great high school career?

Q, Feeney, and Jerry were all big time recruits….

Went and looked on 247 and according to them Feeney had no offers from the other Dakota schools, or any other FCS school.  Q's only other offer was Old Dominion.  I wouldn't call them big time recruits.  Couldn't find anything on Jerry.

Point is that I don't think they're recruiting the right guys.  Hard to develop if you don't have the right tools to start with.  I guess time will tell.

Edit...Kaminsky had other offers from St Thomas, Eastern Illinois and Augustana.  Point still stands.

Not mutually exclusive - they aren’t recruiting very talented players and they aren’t developing them also. Net result is what we’re seeing on an annual basis. Horrid coaching staff for UND football … but complacency, unwarranted contract extensions, and a country club attitude will do that. You know what they say about pressure … it makes diamonds. No pressure within UND athletics right now or of late …  and it shows.

NDSU told Feeney to look elsewhere.

The only big time qb recruit we’ve had in D1 was Mollberg. Let that sink in. Bubba and staff literally tried the Rugby Rifle for multiple years. They have no idea what they’re doing.

At least ND one produces, thankfully.

Is that what I witnessed for 12 games? You're better than that.
