 Not sure what to think of Doppler, he seemed to have peaked last year.  He looked slow and unimpressive this year in the few games I saw.  Certainly didn’t perform well in the state tournament.

Him staying at NDSU is still an option, but it wouldn't make much sense if his goal is to get drafted in the NBA draft either this year or next year. 

Will Walters be willing to wait until mid May or June for Nelson to make a decision?

Walters says in a Forum article that he has heard from over 50 schools and has 10 offers already.  It says he has heard from Summit League schools of NDSU, SDSU and Omaha...   Can we have not been a school not calling him??

Well it did say he wanted to play for a winning team....   I would think Sather would have been his first call.  We wont win any recruiting battles if he doesnt.  He still needs to show me that he can win some of those battles to be a good coach.   We have had some freshman of the year because we got kids that didnt have any other offers and gave them a bunch of minutes.  I want to see wins with kids that have other options.

Obviously the kids were good enough to get offers after playing as true freshman, so they must have been alright or the coach managed to develop them pretty well in 9 months on campus.

Wasn't Omot was a pretty highly sought after recruit last year? More of that please.

We all want to see wins. Let's hope the talent that was brought in last year stays and we can add a few impact pieces that are out there.

Who said we weren't? One article (from the Fargo media) said he'd heard from the D1 Dakota schools. Another (also from the Fargo media) only listed a handful of the 50 he's heard from and 10 he's gotten offers from.

I have seen multiple tweets from recruiting/portal pages listing the teams he has heard from and I have not seen UND listed once. Need to keep what we currently have and change the narrative.
Should (is) UND be expressing interest with him? Yes.
Is it not going to matter and he's going to end up at a high mid-major/P6? Also yes. (Still absolutely agree that should be talking with him, which I believe they are).

I didn't write the article so I don't know. It listed those as those "were among the Summit League teams that had contacted him". Meaning there were just more than that.

Answer me this, have you definitively heard from Walters or someone within the UND program that they have chosen not to reach out to him? Or are just making assumptions based off of what a writer for a Fargo paper put in there?

Which of the two things is more likely? UND wasn't one of the 50 teams named or UND hasn't reached out?
Based on what I've heard, I know what my answer is. Based on your prior comments, I assume I know which one you think is likely.

Maybe UND already knows he is not considering UND. Early on in recruitment sometimes coachs know where the recruit would even consider and then they  just simply decide to focus on recruits who might come here.

Nobody cares what school he went to. He lives 2 hours away from Grand Forks. It is sad that we either 1. Haven't reached out or 2. Won't even be considered but schools like Omaha will. It's embarrassing for the program.

You are right it has.  But it is very frustrating as a fan of UND basketball that a North Dakota kid this close to UND either hasnt been contacted or doesnt even consider us.  He has many mid major schools looking at him.  UND not being one of them.  Every division one school in the Dakota's is listed.  I just want UND basketball to be relevant again.

How/where they currently are/etc, sure there are differences. But no one is against UND showing significant improvement.

If UND was one of the first to reach out to Walters and he voices that he will not consider going to UND, would you like UND to waste and inordinate amount of time recruiting a kid that isn't going to come here? 

He has 30+ schools reaching out to him.. newsflash, UND isn't going to win a recruiting battle like that, not now... not ever. That's just reality.

News flash UND doesnt win any recruiting battles with any teams in the summit.  That is the problem.  I get if the kid doesnt want to come to a losing team at UND.  BUT it would still be nice to see that UND was on the list of schools trying to recruit a North Dakota kid.  Shows we have interest in our local talent.   I guess we will be happy getting the Doppler's of ND.
