Penrose Cup Champs @ Omaha - One night, Friday

So UND goes on the road without 3 of their top 6 forwards and 1 of their top 6 D men, playing a team that really needs a win to lock in a spot for the NCAA’s.  Special teams were the difference as the Sioux had 3 PP goals and a shorty as well.  Our D really limited their chances throughout the game.  Great win!  Let’s hang 10 on these guys next week!

Good win. Definitely a little bit of sloppiness at times and gotta be stronger on clears especially but down 3 of your scorers to get a road win is nice.

Powerplay looked really solid. Big positive if it can start rolling a little bit.

The interference call on Omaha was obvious. They had called interference pretty tight all game and that was the most obvious one of the night. Guy even stuck his hip out a little more for extra. The big thing to me is the response from Omaha after it. Your coach and a couple key players absolutely lose it and can't keep their composure. That is an indictment on your leadership. Meanwhile Senden gets hit with a hook late and I thought it was weaker than the interference call but didn't get a great look at it. Still Senden was upset with the call and calmly asked about it but held composure. You see the guys on the bench and the team as a whole just kinda say alright can't control the call but we will control the response and just gotta get the job done.

Perfect write up. Couldn’t agree more.
Textbook interference on Omaha down the stretch there and the refs had been calling that all night both ways so they stayed consistent.

That was UND telling Omaha, “we’re going to win this game, not because we need to, not because we want to, but because we can.”

We’re gonna leave 4 of our best guys at home and see what happens...:whistling:

You have to love the radio announcer give a call to the hometown fans listening and ignoring the fact there is video evidence that shows his description in no way matches what happened on the ice.

The refs let a lot of calls go and called some iffy calls on both teams.

:D  Poor Mavpuck.
So the fact that UNO had more PP chances than UND doesn't matter?  :)
Hard to blame the refs when UNO had more PP than UND did.

If UNO wants to blame anyone, blame their special teams, not the refs.
UNO was 0/5 on the PP...UND was 3/4 on the PP with a SHG as well.

Yes.  It was definitely the reffs that won that game for UND.  No way we can stay with that group of hockey talent without the officials giving us everything and earning nothing.

We had way more powerplays than they did obviously, and they were missing 3 seniors and a super soph.

I think this was one of the most impressive wins by ND in the last 10 years or more.

Really showed their depth and commitment to winning.  No passengers.

#1 seed is a big deal.  Imagine having last change all the way to Pittsburgh.

In our 2016 run last change was a huge deal against Michigan's CCM line and was also huge against Denver's Pacific Rim line.  We were able to match up Sendin, Smith and Johnson on them for most of the game and mostly shut them down.  Depending on who we play in the tourney line matching and what D to send out to match up will be huge.  Always is.

These 2 were not on that team.
