Here are a few names I would explore, with no knowledge of their desire to come:

Chris Winter, Wartburg

Jeff Thorne, former North Central HC

Vince Kehres, Toledo DC

Spence Nowinsky, Memphis DC

I would guess that Nowinsky is out of reach unless he wants to come back to the Midwest. He is from Minnesota. Jeff Thorne has been out of football the last couple years, but may want to come back once his son Payton is done playing at Auburn (senior this year). Kehres was a successful coach at Mount Union, taking over that spot from his father. Now has been successful at Toledo as their DC. Winter has turned Wartburg into a national championship contender at the D3 level and is very young.

Just wanted to throw out a few names with no UND connections.

Glenn Caruso from St Thomas was fashionable pick a number of years ago. Don’t hear his name mentioned much anymore. They haven’t set the world on fire since moving up.

Sometimes opportunities fall in your lap if you are in position to take advantage.

Kennesaw State fired Brain Bohannon today.

He is 53.

He started the Kennesaw State Football Program from scratch in 2013, started playing in 2015. Went 71-30 in FCS, National Coach of the Year in 2017. Went 5-4 in the playoffs, twice advancing to the quarterfinals. Is 1-8 this season as they are transitioning to FBS.

He's a disciple of the Reformed Church of the Triple Option, the flex-bone, what Army and AFA run.

@geaux_sioux tells me it's an offense only Joe Protheroe (Cal Poly) can love. ;)

No more old guys, geez

I think UND needs a younger coach to relate to the younger generation. JMHO.

Not a bad concept at all, especially now in the era of NIL and transfer portal. Ultimately, a coach that can install a winning, disciplined culture will be the most successful, as the transfers and younger players still have to fight for what’s best for the team, and strive for championship excellence. In other words, the coach needs to be able to move the players away from individualism.

As of now, I have a bad feeling about this situation. I think Chaves sits on this thing (again) and UND continues to be far behind the other Dakota MVFC schools. Hopefully the next couple weeks changes that…

I strongly advocate that everyone who is willing to post on this board also sends a respectful message to University of North Dakota leadership (athletic director, president).

Unfortunately its reached the point of fans hoping they lose so a change is made. Rock bottom
