Kab Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I guess all I hear is how bad that altru is, what would you expect I am thinking Quote
UNDBIZ Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I think a lot of people who complain about Altru base their opinions on what Altru was 15 years ago (a place you basically couldn't enter without contracting staph infection). Quote

The flip of that I've heard from friends and relatives is that Sanford believes they have the skills and specialties and hangs onto a patient too long (when they should've been referred to a specialist at Mayo, Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, et al). Kab Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Hopefully those with complaints fill out surveys and talk to board members the new facility will attract better providers sanfords goal is to try take over all facilities then close the underachievers and try buy up nursing beds from smaller communities in ND since there is a moratorium on new nursing bed licenses these will end up in larger towns Quote

I can see that. Pick your poison! I still think Sanford beats altru hands down. At least they offer the specialties. They also have a state of the art facility right now. Their food is better. And they have free valet parking. You mentioned abuse of volunteers.l but in my experience they make much better use of their volunteers at Sanford where altru counts on volunteers to deliver food in their cancer center...:.these are paid positions in Fargo. The reality is you cannot use altru as a one stop shop because eventually you are going to have something that is over their head when at least Sanford will have the specialist you need. Quote
Sioux_FF Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Neil Carlson is reporting tonight there are rumors Altru is being sold. Employees have been told an announcement will be made on January 3rd....... On inewz.tv Quote

It takes major capital to finance and run a hospital, as well as all their branches. Look at Sanford and what it’s done. Altru is just too small to succeed by itself today. Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, and MD Anderson have all been on a quest to expand their affiliates because it brings in more patients to the main hospitals. Don’t know if actually owning the affiliates would work though, as it requires mega finances. http://www.startribune.com/part-two-cautiously-mayo-clinic-builds-an-empire/284980461/ Have had two juvenile relatives referred to Mayo, and both are doing well now. But one still has to visit biennially. Quote

northernraider Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Clearing the house of top level staff never a good sign. Wonder what is happening behind the scenes to make this sudden change? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 https://www.grandforksherald.com/business/healthcare/4919207-Altru-Health-System-changes-leadership Removing a CEO and a CFO at the same time. When I've seen that in the past an outside audit followed. Quote
yzerman19 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Prior CEO and CFO were there for like 30 years, these two make it about a year? Not good. Quote
OgieOgilthorpe Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Brown was the president of Altru for how many years and left it falling apart, holding on by a thread. He was also the mayor of Grand Forks for how many years and drove the community into the ground... Common theme here is that Brown was a obvious mistake to be holding the helm at the 2 most important positions of the community for so many years. Blows me away that he won in 2016, and I’ll be flabbergasted if he wins again in 2020. Wake up Grand Forks 1 Quote

yzerman19 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Net Asset growth from $145M to $265M between FYE 2010 and FYE 2017...that doesn’t imply being run into the ground to me. Can’t speak to facilities or care delivery, but public financial filings show consistent revenue growth and Net asset growth. Quote
