I cannot wait to join "the valley" and instantly have every built-in excuse readily available.   "Alright class, put your listen ears on - it's 'the valley' talking point day.  Repeat after me:

That’s what she said.

The changing narrative has me confused what I'm supposed to think about Montana. In 2016 the narrative was that UND was "lucky" to not have them on the schedule. Montana ended the season at 6-5 (

Predicting

UND - 22

USD - 16

UNI - up a few spots with close loss

UND  - #19  That was generous.  One behind Weber St.

USD - #14 Bigger jump than I thought.  The target is now on you at 3-0

UNI - still in it at #24

We have a lot of injury issues at ILB and OL.   We can still have a playoff year but need to get healthier and win BS conference games.

That's kind of why I had us a little lower.  We won't see Stockwell or Holm for a while.  We could have an all injury line-up that's better than the team on the field at this rate.

Good news is UND is still in the drivers seat, being ranked #19 right now, I think 7-4 gets them into the playoffs. Preseason polls matter A LOT in Football, as it makes it much easier on teams ranked higher to begin the season. Obviously you still have to win games, but UND isn't in a bad spot right now. You won't drop with a win, so who cares about style points, just win!

Pretty amazing to me.  If UND wins out we are easily back in the top 10, especially if USD does well.

IF we win out....we could probably get back to top 10.  But I think a first round bye is basically out of the question at this point even if we win out unless USD is a top 4 seed or something, and even then things would have to play out perfectly for that to happen.  It's going to take some time work to get rid of that butt whooping we just got.  Right now however I am just taking it game by game....we've got a long ways to go, feels similar to last year after our first two games.

With a bye the last week of the regular season, maybe it's not good to have a first round bye in the playoffs. Maybe it's better to host a first round playoff game.

Not a bad place after our 3 win season and a win against a low grade FCS team. If we can play Washington close maybe we move up, get destroyed and we drop further, but I believe the SHSU game means more to the pollsters than a top rated FBS team.
