Wilbur Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Rocco doesn't determine who is on his team, but he controled a number of things that were downright awful. Base running, bullpen management, in game management dreadful. We don't hit and run, bunt, and only started stealing late in the season when it was over with. The Pohlads are still terrible, and Falvey is who he is, but this is one move they made together that makes sense. 2 Quote

I would put more blame on him and the front office than Rocco. I didn’t like Rocco either and it was time, but this doesn’t move me at all. If Pohlads and Falvey are in charge nothing changes. 1 Quote

I agree. Entire baseball operations group must go. And then the Pohlads. 1 3 Quote

sioux24/7 Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I understand something had to be done and Rocco was the fall guy. I’m not sure if there is a good manager out there that is willing to take this job unless there are some guarantees of spending. Have seen a few mentions of Torii Hunter or Justin Morneau. For nostalgia sake, that would be cool but I don’t want to tarnish their legacy. Think it would be wiser to go elsewhere. Skip Schumaker, Mark DeRosa, Brad Ausmus, Brandon Hyde are some names I go after. Quote

rochsioux Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Please sell the team. Pohlad’s will just use the low attendance to cut more payroll which will result in fewer fans. Sure feels like the franchise is circling the bowl. Absolutely no reason to care about the Twins as long as the Pohlad’s are in charge. 1 Quote

Rocco couldn't control the slashed payroll or constant injuries that basically derailed the last few seasons. Don't think there are many managers that would have done much better. The good news is that there's always someone that will be willing to take the opportunity. The bad news is, that pool of candidates isn't likely to be real great. Quote
