cberkas Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Good catch! Nice to see some small programs coming along...http://gogriffs.com/mobile/ViewArticle.dbml?atclid=209736439&DB_OEM_ID=20500& I find it interesting that they built 2 rinks on the 6 floor of the Harborcenter. Quote
fargosioux Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Sioux move up to #2 in the USCHO poll: http://www.uscho.com/rankings/ Michigan Tech at #9 and actually got a first place vote! Wonder how long it's been since that happened. Quote
UNDPUCKS Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 We used to love the road trip to Houghton. Tickets were easy, the town was nice, maybe not so much now. I remember one year we played them the first conference weekend and it was the first time we had been there when there was not at least two feet of snow on the ground and it was beautiful. Go Tech, see you in Boston. Quote

MafiaMan Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 UConn beats BC 1-0 Shots 35-22 BC Fire Jerry? Wow! I know there was quite a bit of opposition to UConn joining Hockey East - talk about a signature win for the program. Quote
cberkas Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Wow! I know there was quite a bit of opposition to UConn joining Hockey East - talk about a signature win for the program. The guy who scored for UConn was cut by BC after last year. Quote

There's also quite a bit of resentment over the special treatment Notre Dame is getting in the conference with their NBCSN TV deal. Quote
Redneksioux Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 So Alaska Fairbanks has to forfeit wins if I read that article correctly. How will this affect the pair wise and the teams that play them/have played them? Quote
WiSioux Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 So Alaska Fairbanks has to forfeit wins if I read that article correctly. How will this affect the pair wise and the teams that play them/have played them? The offenses were from 2007-2012... So not a darn thing happens. Quote
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 So Alaska Fairbanks has to forfeit wins if I read that article correctly. How will this affect the pair wise and the teams that play them/have played them? Yeah, their Pairwise won't be affected. They just won't be able to make the post-season, no matter how high they are ranked at the end of the year. It will be interesting to see if they will get into the top 10-13 teams in the pairwise. keikla Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The offenses were from 2007-2012... So not a darn thing happens. Right. That part really just affects the record books. The only things that actually affects the current team is this year's playoffs (including WCHA tournament) and losing one full scholarship for the next three years. If the university self-reported the problem back during the 2011-12 season, I wonder how upfront they were with recruits regarding this issue. Did recruits know sanctions were likely to be handed down during their time playing? I'd be feeling pretty pissed if I were a senior on the team this year. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'd always heard "don't poke the bear". The NCAA just poked the Nanook ... hard. Quote

Godsmack Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Adam Woden wrote an article today regarding Alaska. He couldn't have put it better. Very disturbing the arbitrary power of the NCAA and their hypocrisy. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2014/11/06_between_the_lines_alaska.php Quote
The Sicatoka Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I did not realize that Alaska took the hit across the entire athletic department. The NCAA just put itself on the spot: What happened at North Carolina was far worse. Will the NCAA hit UNC as hard? (Hint: If I were betting I'd bet the under.) Quote

They can punish Alaska as much as they want since they don't represent any revenue to the NCAA, UNC on the other hand.... Quote
