The Sicatoka Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Well, there is a statue of a Nokota out front of REA already. However, before I completely believe you, can you tell us your "good ol' boys" club ID number? It's right there on your membership card beside the schedule of meetings at the truck stop. Quote

NYSioux Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Someone make it green. Or maybe just a green eye. Game of Thrones crossover references could be abundant with either Wolves or Dire Wolves.....as long as we stay away from the sensitive topics of Ned Stark's demise, Rob Stark's demise, Catelyn Stark's demise, the Boltons, some of the less favorable moments in the War of the 5 Kings, and any other unfortunate event that is yet to befall the North Seriously though, I do like the name. The Sicatoka Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Beware of pop culture references when selecting a name or logo. What is popular today is outdated tomorrow. Quote
CMSioux Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 My coworker thought up this one today. We should be the Redskins and have a big red potato as the logo. We do produce a lot of red skinned potatoes. We already have the Potato Bowl. I say it's worth a shot. Fun name to throw out but no way they choose a name that tweaks the nose of the NCAA (not saying I don't like it just saying reality says we are in for a name that is very well researched so as not to offend anyone. I say the writing is on the wall for the North Dakota Spirit.) Quote
KoolGuy2K Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I didn't know red skinned potatoes could be offended. Quote
Siouxphan27 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I didn't know red skinned potatoes could be offended. Lol. Even if they're not offended, some white skinned potatoes might tell them they should be offended. 1 Quote

BigGame Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I guess I like some different names that have been tossed around to different degrees but I am almost positive I will be disappointed in whatever is selected. I have a question, why does the new name need any association to the state or region? It would make sense but I certainly don't think it should be requirement. If the best name also has a regional or state association that's great but if something is better I don't feel it should be pushed aside for that specific criteria. I almost feel like it should be something mythical or extict so it can't be questioned by the party poopers. I know Giants isn't very original or related but a name like that has some interesting logo options. Quote

CMSioux Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 They've thrown "Spirit" out there a lot. Of course it couldn't be "Spirit of the Sioux" and perhaps even the smallest hint that "Spirit" relates to Sioux might be enough to kill it. The "North Dakota Spirit" has been used around the state in various capacities over the years. Quote
