Ouch - he appears to be a good one! As happens too often, I would guess proximity to home for mom & dad, girlfriend to see his games may have made a difference!

If he was a true 3 star there'd be a ton of schools after him. Right in UNI and SIU backyard and no interest?

Any big recruits at the game?

There were but I am not sure how many. Perham guys were there. Great came for recruits. Crowd that was there was loud and a fun game to watch. You almost gotta think Coach Murphy dropped "a bit o' the luck o' the Irish" on Fighting Sioux FB yesterday.

I believe there were 15-20. Not sure who but they saw a good game. Hopefully Woods from Bemidji was in attendance and saw an offense that throws the ball and see's he would be a great fit. He'd be a nice player to have with Molberg for four years. I had a chance to watch their semi-final game on TV and that kid is impressive. He'd fit in nicely with the young, athletic WR corps we have.

When looking at the Wiseman kid, he is a zero-star at both Rivals and Scout but is a 3-star at ESPN. Very odd situation. He looks like a good player and a good get for USD.

It appears that Bemidji's WR, Carey Woods, is starting to get a lot of attention - and deservedly so from what I hear. Reports are that we have offered a full ride and the Bison a partial. As the Lumberjacks continue into the playoffs, he might be getting much more attention!

He is also a very good BB player - he has offers from Moorhead and Bemidji so far but it appears he wants to play FB in college.

Woods was unreal in that game last weekend. He is explosive. I've seen posts elsewhere that he is leaning towards football for college and that may end up in either UND or NDSUs favor, because I think UMN will explore the preferred walk-on route.

Re: woods, it depends on your information source. The BB people I talk to tell me woods' first choice sport is hoops. It's the sport he works on, and practices in the offseason. FB he doesn't put the work in to, he's just that much more naturally athletic and talented. It may come down to the decision of whether he is willing to significantly increase his commitment level to what is required to play football at UND or NDSU, or play the sport he likes better, but at a D2 school.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mollberg and LaBatt start recruiting Woods. They are all very good BB players and DL plays Bemidji. He had been thinking BB first, I was told that may be changing.

I think that is one of the most underrated parts of getting early verbals. These kids talk to one another and sometimes hearing it from another recruit instead of a coach can be all it takes.

Hopefully we are(or start) recruiting this kid now that meirkort is gone. While he is a "verbal" to USD, nothing is on paper. Unfortunately most kids choose their school based on coaches, who aren't there by the time the graduate.

Wiseman Decommits.

Flipping back and forth between the CC/UND hockey game and the 5A finals of the Minnesota FB championships. Seems to be some darn good players on both teams and probably in the smaller divisions too. Mussman was at the hockey game between periods on TV. It is a bit late maybe in the recruiting season, but I sure hope that one or more of the UND coaches is scouting these games at the metrodome. RB and DE for Eden Prairie and QB for Wayzata in particular stand out.

Here is a Gopher Hole Q&A with Eden Prairie's RB. and before you rip on it being from the gopher hole, those guys do a good job talking to high schoolers and a lot of the kids are right in UND and NDSUs wheelhouse:

(I apologize if it's not hyperlinked. Trying tonfigure that out with the iPad.)

Thanks. Looks like he has an interest in the Ivy league schools.

Seems like a solid commitment! Just kind of curious now having 2 QBs in this class. Is that something we usually do?

I think it was an absolute necessity this year given the lack of any high school quarterback recruits in 2009 and 2011, and the early departure of Demler from the class of 2010.
