brianvf Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Huge get for the coaching staff! Nice! I was worried that he'd follow his brother to CC with how long he was taking to make a decision. Always like to see these local talented players join the UND program. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/moorhead-defenseman-garrett-lindberg-commits-to-und-hockey Quote UND targeted three Fargo-Moorhead hockey players with its junior recruiting class. It landed all three. Moorhead defenseman Garrett Lindberg, who plays for the U.S. Under-17 Team, posted on Instagram Tuesday that he's given a verbal commitment to play college hockey at UND. Lindberg is a two-way defenseman who has drawn comparisons to another former Moorhead-to-UND blue liner — Ethan Frisch. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed shooting defenseman joins junior classmates Andrew O'Neill, a forward from Fargo, and Sam Laurila, a defenseman from Moorhead, as future UND players. Quote Lindberg was being pursued by a handful of top programs. He made several on-campus visits including UND, Minnesota and Colorado College, where his older brother, Gavin, is committed. Quote

brianvf Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The Herald article was updated with quotes from Lindberg and updated his college choices. Quote "I think the biggest thing is that it felt like home," Lindberg said of UND. "I've always wanted to play there. Being from Moorhead, it just felt like home." Lindberg was pursued by several top programs. He made on-campus visits to UND, Minnesota, Denver, Minnesota Duluth and Colorado College, where his older brother, Gavin, is committed. It ultimately came down to UND and Colorado College. "It was a longer process than I wanted it to be," Lindberg said. "It was down to UND and CC for quite a long time." Quote The 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed shooting defenseman joins junior classmates Andrew O'Neill, a forward from Fargo, and Sam Laurila, a defenseman from Moorhead, as future UND players. "I think it will be cool to play with them (at UND)," Lindberg said. "I've been playing with them and against them my whole life. We know each other really well." Quote

AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Slipec isn't making it to campus if he doesn't find his game. 1 point in his last 10. Maybe needs to bounce back to the BCHL. Quote

He isn’t that young but he’s def not getting drafted this year. Hopefully things turn around for him. Quote
brianvf Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Summary - Nice week from Swanson, he's taking off a bit after a 'slower' start than I was anticipating for him. An exciting duo with him and Boisvert...one looks to be an elite playmaker and the other an elite scorer. Jubenvill had a good run to start the season, but has slowed as of late. Strathmann quietly putting up good numbers. Heil continues to put up average numbers, but he is still very young in the league as a goalie. Monster weeks for Pilgrim and Zellers...hard to gauge with their competition, but great numbers regardless McInnis played his first couple games since moving to the AJHL, put up 2g/1a in 2 games. brianvf Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Craig Button's draft list has a couple UND recruits going in 1st round, along with a good number of other NCAA players and recruits: https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/craig-s-list-dominant-defencemen-set-to-take-over-2024-nhl-draft-1.2061018 Emery at #26 Boisvert at #30 Wonder if Celebrini, Levshunov, and Buium will stick around another year if/when they get drafted that high? If BU can get Celebrini to stick around one more year...they'd have the #1 and #2 (expected) draft picks with Celebrini and Eiserman. Has that happened to any team ever...whether NCAA or Major Junior? That's crazy. 1 Quote
