I was thinking possibly the opposite, the chance to play together another year at UND before splitting up to different NHL teams could get us more time watching them. But less selfishly, hard to root against them living out their dream of playing together at every level.

Someone else made another good point, is that if they don’t get drafted by the same team, they could use the college loophole to make it happen themselves, which would mean one would need to stick around long enough to make that happen.

I think theres a high chance both brothers will be at UND for two seasons. I don't see them being one and done.

They don’t seem to be leveraging it nearly as much as their B1G peers Michigan and Michigan State. Guess hockey isn’t as important as it used to be for Minnesota?

Very odd on their part.  Not even like we are using the Portal and NIL to get these guys.  

Do they not know that the goal is be bring guys in that are going to win you a National Championship.

This should give UND the inside chance to land Landon Ruck and looks to be better than his brothers

It’s been good to see a variety of scout, NHL fan, and other takes on the Ruck twins announcing the commitment to UND before the draft as a great way to give the drafting team confidence in their development path given UND’s strong track record of preparing for the NHL. I wondered how much that might have changed over the last 5+ years as UND hasn’t been getting as much love on the national level (and crashing in the post season most years definitely didn’t help for visibility). 

Shows just how important a player like Jake Sanderson has been - and exciting that the current crop of elite players is going to carry that reputation forward and pay off for years to come. 

P.s., wondering when all the naysayers are going to come out of the woodwork now that UND is hoarding elite players. After all we heard around here about ”we didn’t want them anyways - BC, BU, Michigan, Michigan State, etc. never won the national title with all these elite players”. We’ll see how it all shakes out of course, but personally I can’t wait to see all of this talent playing for the good guys and then moving on to be big-time players at the next level. Certainly makes watching day one of the draft a lot more fun than I can recall.

Bleacher Report now has the Ruck twins both going to Ottawa in the first round (#25 & #32) after the Tkachuk trade. So Ottawa trades one player to go play with his brother and in turn puts themselves in position to draft a pair of brothers in the first round. Were Maine, Quinnipiac and Western trying to buy a Championship then?  No doubt they’ll get some money, but nowhere near the figures Big Ten schools are throwing around.

I’m guessing Minnesota is willing to throw a bunch of NIL money at Landon DuPont, but hopefully years of being jerks about Canadians, will keep biting them in the future.

MN does not toss money around like every assumes.  Do they toss money?  Yes.  But it's not the "B1G BAG" everyone talks about like with McKenna or even the Michigans.  There's a pretty good thread about it on GPL breaking down the legalities of it....that sh*t puts me to sleep though, lol.

Getting the Canadians is always going to be a long shot for Dinkytown...let's be honest, it's just not a good fit for most and I'm talking away from the rink.  Fitzhenry is a bad recruiting loss for the Gophers, though.
