They also maybe didn't suggest anything to him but rather if he asked they may have been honest and said nothing is guaranteed in terms of top 6 or PP time, and perhaps in reconsidering things, he realized it might be better to be a top dog at Tech instead of potentially getting a bit buried at UND. 2 Quote

He would have to beat out two of Strinden, Menghini, Swanson, Zellers, and James for top 6 ice time on the wing. That is not including anyone else that we are brining in through the CHL. If he struggled to get into the top 6 this year, it would only be harder for him in the future. Out of that group, we are only losing Strinden and James while gaining McKamey, Williams, Schultz, and Simpson for the year after potentially. I anticipate someone getting pushed back a year or changing their commitment. He probably was second guessing his decision and the news last Friday was icing on the cake. You could have penciled him into our top 6 and first powerplay a month ago, now he would be on the second unit and potentially on the third or fourth line. Quote
nascar99 Posted Thursday at 06:39 PM Posted Thursday at 06:39 PM Looks like Ashton Schultz is at Chicago Steel Tryout/Development Camp, implying that he'll be back in junior again this year. Quote

SiouxFanatic Posted Friday at 03:24 PM Posted Friday at 03:24 PM Person over on HFBoards is saying Verhoeff is getting 200k and Reschny 80k to come to UND. Any truth to these numbers as I thought there was bunch of discussion here how the collective doesn’t have this kind of funds. If this is what they’re getting then that confirms Boisvert left for other reasons than the 💰 BU is giving him. Quote

I believe the Reschny amount more than Verhoeff. 200K would probably be one of the highest NIL amount for a NCAA hockey player that I have seen a rumored dollar amount for and I guess I am skeptical. atxsioux Posted Friday at 03:33 PM Posted Friday at 03:33 PM I'm hopelessly optimistic but I've always thought if UND needs to put up money to get players a quick deposit can always be made from the Engelstad fund. Still a little skeptical thats true tho because I didn't think at all that we had paid them really anything - outside of whatever local sponsor deals they would get through the collective. 1 Quote

I'll be contemplating a lot of things if my kid is outearning my with that kind of income at 16. Obviously I'm thrilled he is coming to UND, but all of this paying of players has gotten so out of control in the past few years. I still think it is just wrecking college sports. 1 Quote

dustnyou Posted Friday at 04:42 PM Posted Friday at 04:42 PM Again, louder for those of you in the back, the money does not need to come from the Collective. Quote

I'd guess that a lot of these chippahs are expecting serious money in the near future and have people around them, parents usually, who help manage. For 17 and 18-year-olds getting serious NIL money, trusts are probably going to become commonplace. Quote

Unless you opt into the house settlement for revenue sharing, the big dollar deals all go through the collectives. Quote

A lot of people care about UND hockey in area. I am not sure how legal this would be but could Hakstol pay a player through the collective? He bleeds green and wants to see this program succeed. I believe he is close with Dane as well. Verhoeff and Reschny definitely are getting paid. I would be surprised if it was not six figures given that the going rate for first rounders is about six figures. Quote

False. My company can hand a check directly to a hockey player for the use of his name, image, and likeness. He is allowed to accept it. 1 Quote

You can do that, but they aren’t handing out major money deals like that. The bulk of the money is in rev share or the collective. Never said they aren’t allowed, just said that’s not what is happening. Quote
