I don't think it mimics it in the most important way -- the maturity of the players.

how so?

Ages of players, 16-20, compared to 18-25, with the majority being over 20 years old, and very few being 18.

So in summarizing some excellent posts....Why play junior hockey?

I know there is also a system in place to compensate these kids as far as paying for college after playing in the CHL as well.  Us diehard college hockey fans can spit and cuss at the CHL all we want too, but it isn't the worst option.

NOW QUIT TAKING OUR FRICKEN COMMITTED RECRUITS!!! :glare:

In regards to the CHL education package, all benefits are void if that player signs any sort of pro contract.

For those that have been living under a rock, Stefan Matteau and Miles Koules.

And more if you look at all of college hockey, not just us.

The problem I have with the CHL is the sneaky and slimy tactics they use in getting kids to choose them over the NCAA.  If a kid wants to choose the CHL path, that's fine.  I just don't think they always have all the information they should have before they make that decision and this is because of NCAA rules and the deceptive tactics of the CHL.

Including ECHL, Central Hockey League, or the Southern Professional Leagues?

Please let this thread die. If we want to contiune the Jr. vs NCAA discussion lets start a new thread. Seth Jones is not coming to UND so lets move on from this thread.

Considering UND has had players like Parise, Toews, Oshie, etc. pass on MJ, I think we can hold our own.

Don't leave out Travis Zacjac ever in this list! He is one of the best two-way forwards in the NHL and a huge leveraging name to UND too. :silly:
