Someone that works for UND athletics/at the Ralph was telling me last summer how the women's soccer team has such an advantage in recruiting due to their locker room & facilities being at The Ralph. That they get players that they probably shouldn't just because they come on their visit and are blown away. After getting a tour of The Ralph/their facilities they say they have to come here.

I don't think there can really be much of a complaint about the Ralph but has anyone seen that field? They have a shed for a press box and there is nowhere for the 25 people that show up to even sit. From what I remember when women's hockey was cut soccer was put in the Ralph to balance hockey for title 9. If you compare where the hockey team play to where the soccer team play I think there is probably some type of equity argument.

How much revenue does soccer generate at the gate?

maybe they should have a parent step up like softball and donate 2.5 mill

The idea that every single program must be self-sustaining is nonsense.

That is not how college athletics is funded.......anywhere.

Not all programs generate revenue.

If you are lucky, you'll have more than one program make a profit.

So, the complaints are:

1)  Need bathroom facilities at Bronson Field

2) Need a trainer available during games.

3) Cut the grass shorter.

Recent Improvements:

1)  Resodding Bronson Field

2) Laying infrastructure (fiber) for game broadcasts.

3) Fencing around Bronson Field

Here is a link to the soccer facilities:  https://fightinghawks.com/watch/?Archive=7672&type=Archive

It seems like a nice setup.  Cut the grass, schedule a trainer for games and work on potential small set of stands with bathrooms.

complaining about a new field and the realph

maybe we just cut it and not have the headache and money loss

The Complaints seem to be valid.  The fact they play on a grass field with temporary seating is embarrassing.  A new field should have been worked into the Memorial Stadium Project.  Seems like they are in need of a benefactor similar to what Softball got with their new Field.  I'm not a title 9 expert, but seems like they need to be given the same access to facilities at the Ralph to be compliant.  Also the fact they have a doctor "on Call" for games is ridiculous.  There should a doctor there for the entire game.

Will they win more if they have a dr on site or they holding back due to fear of injury

Other than men's hockey there is not a tougher team on campus. Women's soccer is brutally physical.

Bronson Field is the worst soccer field in the Summit.

Didn't they shut it down for a year and redo the field 4 or 5 years ago?

Are you using hockey as a comparison for soccer?  Really?  Good luck with that Title IX defense

Grass is a problem? Ever watched the World Cup? Premier league? La Liga? Do you know anything about soccer at all?

It is if they aren’t cutting it.

So the basically minimum?

Gave the soccer team a level playing Field with grass and a fence to keep the ball from going into the street like elementary schools have.

If there is a program that deserves University funds for a brand new field it’s certainly Soccer.

So use a simply analogy you both can understand on grass fields....

Bronson Field = late 70s porn star

Premier League/World Cup = Top 1% OnlyFans

Not even a new field, just some small upgrades:

A small concrete building with a bathrooms, some GameDay lockers, with a cool lighted sign on the side "home of UND Soccer" other outside, small bleacher for fans, and maybe some of those curved wind protections "dugouts."

Athletic trainer at the games.

Small cheap stuff.

I would agree there.
