There’s a simple math to some of these decisions with roster limits. Although not hard capped yet, UND is always around the soon to be limit.

Ex: No Kickers graduating, they are bringing in a kicker in the 2026 class. One currently on the roster will have to leave.

I wonder why so many are leaving? Are they not buying into the coaches goals and process?

Who knows, but even pre-portal, it was pretty common for a HS signing class of 25 to be down to 10-15 after 3-4 years.  Lots of reasons in that age demographic...end up not being good enough to play, injuries, life goals change, motivation to beat the crap out of your body wanes, etc...

I would still expect / wouldn't be surprised to see some portal entries from.

  • O-Line:
    • 1 Graduation
    • 2 Currently in the Portal
    • 5 FR in 2026 class
  • LB Class of 2025: 5 listed on the roster (maybe 4 if Gabe Anderson moved to Edge). Still heavy (this was a large group that was recruited to a 3-4 defense)
  • Someone who was brought in via the portal last year, that didn't play. Frankfather?

These depth entries are actually healthy for the program.

They lose 2 LBs and it appears they’re only bringing 1 in the class of 2026. Two will be seniors next fall, so having a lot of guys as sophomores in 2027 might be the plan if they like what they’ve got in the room right now.

Also, there will be a good amount of seniors on the OL this fall. But I do agree with you there.

Interesting. If we’re looking for signs on what Rucker will do, I would say this is a good sign.

Was just reading the details on this new NIL club. Looks like the players run it and everything is divided equally between those participating.

What I like about this is there is a $ amount/goal that shows how much has been given.

This would be by my count the 4th separate entity under the NIL umbrella for UND Football. (1) 1883 Collective (2) 701 Award (In-House) (3) UND Football Alumni (4) NIL Club

Interesting part on Rucker and hopefully good news, but CJ Elrichs is also listed as a part of the athletes and he's in the transfer portal.  Hopefully Rucker is back, he was good all year but borderline unblockable in the playoffs

Yeah I don’t really know how it’s advantageous to have that many different things. Would think one would be better.

Quite the opposite. Not good enough. Raise the standard. No more participation trophies.

This is the case for some, but not all.  The sheer number is concerning.

I guess we will need to wait and see what is brought in and where these guys land and how they do there.

May be true for some. Seidl, Fleming and Bluiett definitely don’t fit into that blanket statement.

During the early signing period, UND signed 26. There were only 18 that were a part of the Senior celebration against SDSU. There's a soft cap right now that I'm sure they are trying to hit. Three things I'm anxiously waiting for that hopefully we'll know sooner than later.

  1. Ruckers decision
  2. Can they flip Fleming back? @UNDDOM any update? He does still have everything up on his Twitter
  3. Extra Year. We've mentioned Walker previously. Are there any guys who will be granted an extra year?

Never want to lose any prime time players, but if we limit it to just those three.....I think our net transfer portal influx will be a net positive for the year in the end. As has been mentioned, Siedl was likely gone before the year started. Blueiett graduated.

My guess is wherever Flemming goes his numbers will be less next year, a lot less if he goes FBS IMO. Although would rather him do that than an FCS competitor.

Some of the guys leaving was probably needed and just gives us more room for the right additions.

I know Avery Scott is still hoping to get an additional year. In 2022 he apparently played in three games for West Virginia State, and under the current rules that would not have resulted in losing a year of eligibility, but at the time it did result in losing that year.

No idea if they're trying to get another year or not, but Samuels-Parker and Wiltshire also played JUCO to start their careers.

Wiltshire would be massive. Side note: Samuels-Parker had a sneaky good season. Saw a tweet that he was the 5th highest graded interior DL in the MVFC this season, FWIW.

Bad advice. Opportunities do exist, but they’re not always good opportunities. Just because you can transfer doesn’t mean you should transfer.

Most will be returning (rightfully so) to UND football where development potential is just as high if not higher.
