Nice article on the Vig brothers (one a BSU player, the other a BSU commit) on playing against UND this weekend:

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/maxon-vig-son-of-former-und-captain-eager-to-return-to-the-ralph-as-an-opponent

Article also mentions that the Panzer's and Vig's carpool to some BSU games since Panzer's kid is also on BSU.

You know you're always gonna get BSU's best game though, because of this:

Great article.

Time for the series that I least look forward to each season.  Although this year maybe it won't be as much of a trap-fest, since BSU seems to have really upped their scoring.

BSU is off to their best start since probably the 19/20 season, and they are now 9-5-2.
They haven't exactly had a tough SOS, but they've beaten the teams they're supposed to beat.  Their only losses are getting swept by SCSU/UMD and then an OT loss to Tech.

Their SR forward Flammang leads them in points and already is having his best year statistically for them after only 14 games.  Their old USports transfer, Peer (already listed as a JR in his first NCAA season), leads them in goals with 10 and is heating up lately with 3-2-5 in their weekend sweep of NMU.

I would love to see a UND sweep here with limited OOC NPI opportunities remaining, but something tells me it won't be that easy.  UND hasn't swept BSU in two regulation games since the 2016/2017 season.  Ouch.
They always seem to play their best games against UND.

Hopefully UND is a bit healthier after their exhibition weekend.

Go UND!

Agree. Can we please for the love of God and all that is holy be done with this home and home series. As has been pointed out numerous times,  this series is a no win situation for UND. On top of that it’s always  their Superbowl (see Max Vig comments). Love going to Grand Forks for the games, but driving 5 hours 1 way for 1 game is not ideal. I’m guessing I’m not the only one who feels that way. If we must continue to play Bemidji I’d much prefer the traditional 2 game home or away series. I’m surprised the Grand Forks business don’t complain. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I’d rather we play them as an exhibition game instead of Toba. But I know that’s a little unfair to BSU since they likely wouldn’t be getting a home game

There is nothing we could do to BSU at this point that would constitute us being unfair to them considering how much our program has helped theirs well beyond anything they could ever repay.

Whenever the Omaha and Bemidji series comes up, this clip always comes to mind

He’s hurt yet again?  Oh, man. Hopefully not out for long.

I saw him at the exhibition game and he looked fine . Unless something happened in practice after that game.

On the Xfinity Guide, the Midco channel just shows "NCAA Hockey" from 7-10 pm.  Looks like it might be an Onhockey.tv night again.

Schloss preview...he calls for a split with an OT BSU win tonight.

The last time UND and Bemidji State played a two-game series where neither contest went to overtime was October 2016. Since then, all seven series have had at least one overtime game. Eight of the last nine have featured an overtime game.

The last time UND and Bemidji State played a series where there was not a one-goal game was 2010-11, assistant coach Dillon Simpson's freshman season.

Reschny said he thinks UND can take things to another level, though.

"I think we're in a good spot right now," he said. "We're starting to see more consistency, but I think we need to take another step. We've got a lot of good players in this room and on this team — guys who know their role and play their role. If we stick to that, I think we can take this team to another level."

I think a lot of people are assuming this is the same Bemidji State team as year's past.  From everything I've seen and read, that's not the case.  They have a lot of players from Canadian juniors and can play a pretty wide open style.  Rewatched highlights of their Friday night UMD game and they scored the first 2 then let UMD score 6 straight.

Key to me is to win the special teams battle as we both struggle on the PK and to take advantage of the odd man rushes they give us.  Some of their defensemen are pretty reckless with pinching so we need to put some goals up.

Not a fan of 4 with 18. The latter needs a mentor rather than a showboat.

Agree but at least 18 is mature enough to understand his responsibilities. He'll cover for 4.

The Beavers haven't lost a regulation game since Oct. 18 against Minnesota Duluth. They've won six straight in Sanford Center.

Take 'em down, boys.
