No but I expected not to be stupid.  If we played good fundamental football and lost so be it.  Losing because we shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly and played dumb that infuriates me.

The problem is now we have to fix those mistakes and give zero room for error. 2 losses already (1 is said not to count as a FBS loss at selection time, but we know that is BS). Have 2 huge games against current #1 and #2, which I think we can win either or both, but if we don't that is already 4 losses. S. Illinois can be tough, and is a road game, and those still aren't going well for us. I think the rest of the games on our schedule outside those three should not even be considered as not a win, but we also know the team has to play the game, and any L's outside of SDSU/NDSU rest of the season will be huge.

You cannot spike the ball with under 3 seconds I guess, ncaa rules

Sure. Punting game was fantastic. Offensive play calling was not. Officiating was even worse.

He is off the line so there are 3 in the backfield, isn’t covering TE

After this Schmidt walked up to the ref and asked him why he confirmed that the WR was off the line and then threw the flag. I’m not sure who is right, but Schmidt was giving him an earful right in front of me.

This team looks way better this year.  Anyone thinking the d this year looked like last year clearly didn’t go to any games particularly the last half of the year.  I still think we are on the right trajectory.  Now we need to learn to finish.  We had 2 good teams on the ropes but couldn’t finish.  We have 4 games to figure that out and then see what we can do with the other Dakota schools…. Hate to not win games we have in hand but there is clearly progress occurring….

Look at the final series of both teams - Montana played hard and tight and shut us down - we played very loose and got worked.  That's coaching.
