The guy is such an idiot.  Playing in front of nobody is not a great experience for any athlete.  Wodon will continue to die on that hill no matter how stupid it makes him look.

Another thing is all the Ivys struggled after 2020-2021 except Cornell. Brown has always sucked, Princeton 1 winning season. Dartmouth 2 winning seasons, and Harvard 2 winning seasons

 

 

I think this oversimplifies it. In 2015 and 2016, Yale was a NCAA tournament team after reloading talent and the goaltender for those teams, Alex Lyon, is actually in the NHL. Yale was also very good in the few years leading up to the 2013 championship run, when they probably had the weakest roster compared to the ones in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 NCAA appearances.

Allain certainly deserves some blame for the teams's recent struggles, and he clearly takes some resposbility, but, Yale, like the other Ivys, has to deal with a tough recruiting barriers and other restrictions and an unsupportive or incompetent athletic director only makes the job harder, if not impossible. The pandemic absolutely hurt all Ivy sports, but some teams have recovered better than others or seem to be on the right track. Let's take the teams you mentioned.

 

Cornell-Longstanding hockey tradition, high profile sport, heavy AD support with quality coaching and recruits

Harvard-Longstanding hockey tradition, high profile sport, heavy AD support, average or mediocre coaching, quality recruits

Dartmouth-Longtime record of mediocrity with a seemingly more receptive AD and a great coaching hire after the pandemic, good players with potentially more coming

Princeton-Slightly better history than Dartmouth with a good recent coaching hire; to be determined if positive trend will be sustained

Brown-Bottom of the barrel for years; terrible coaching situation that only recently changed due to unanticipated events; remains to be seen what happens but little indication of a supportive AD

So…after a lengthy period of deep reflection in his retirement, Allain now comes to realize Yale’s AD is the worst leader he’s ever seen, and she ran the program into the ground (through no real fault of his own).

With no examples or specifics of any kind to be found, he’s trying to absolutely destroy her reputation in public court - while him and his peers have all been too scared of her for years to surface any of this before now, including during the previous extension? 

I’m not saying she isn’t a bad AD, but I definitely know everything I need to know about Allain after this…

I agree fully with this.  Time as a head coach in the USHL and time to learn and grow under Mike Hastings.

The next question becomes....leave Madison for Stearns County.

Hastings is 60, he may want to retire in 5 years. Oliver could become the heir apparent. Makes sense to stay in Madison.

I think Knott would be the first choice if they continue to have success with Hastings and stay in house, he has been by Hastings every step of the way and turned down the Mankato job I believe.

It's signalled already, with Knott named Associate Head Coach, and Oliver named as an Assistant.

Someone said she ruined sports there that no one is showing up to games but doesn't say what she did that is causing the fans not to show up, yet it's her fault.

An interesting point brought up is that players know their draft status before they start college, so their NIL expectations are aligned with that.  Football and Basketball everyone thinks they'll be a first round pick if given the chance to prove themselves so they all expect the moon.
