We know very little of the background on this.  I'm not a Berry apologist but it's a stretch to say one thing had anything to do with the other.

Gotta have the horses to open it up. Hopefully they can get guys in the system that can skate and make plays at a higher speed. Didn’t see much of that in the lineup this last year and trying to run and gun with teams that do have that skill can be tough.

Job 1 needs to get some great players here for next year - our rivals are already getting portal players - we lost some studs - time to get some new talent in.

Somebody help me out with the GM position. The NC$$ says teams can have a head coach and three assistants. How do you fit in a GM position?

Expand

GM is separate. My understanding is they can't be involved in coaching but can handle some of the new era aspects of the program to let the coach focus on his own stuff.

Yes this article just shows what a clown Chaves is. He doesn't seem to have any control of his own department and his justification of this hire is just a justification for another lazy hire.

Per Schloss’ article today,

“He (Jax) will hire a general manager as one of his assistant coaches. That person will be dedicated to roster management.”

It sounds like this is the role that is currently open and is expected to be filled next week  The other assistant position will be opened at a later time.

Thanks for you response. Allow me to contribute this.  Und and other institutions of higher learning, will always be concerned about their image.
+ The nodak logo was a very bad look.

+Prior to this however, the a.d./berry had decided to bring mitchell miller in (a skilled defenseman)to join the hockey team. Problem was, he had been bullying a disabled kid for many years. This occured @ a school in ohio. This case made its way thru the courts. Miller wouldnt follow thru on the courts directives. Would not take responsibility either. A couple of nhl teams wanted to draft this kid. But th nhl commissioner ruled, miller wouldnt be allowed to play in the nhl. Still, our a.d./berry wanted the kid on our hockey team. Armacost found out about this. He also made the decision, miller wouldnt be allowed to play here. Und pres knew special interest groups would make life a living hell for und. The aclu would more than likely get involved.

So, why are these events so significant? This calls into question berrys ability to make smart decisions. In addition, his integrity, ethics, poor leadership abilties, lack of common sense, lack of intelligence and honesty really take a hit. No institution can have a person in a position of leadership. The damage from these two issues would take years to recover from. Please take the time to do some research. I believe you’ll find the backstory is very clear. Berry put himself in a very bad position. Im not out to make life miserable for coach berry. I believed in him. I thought he was a great guy. I just believe the whole story needs to be told. People in positions of leadership @ und need to know there’s no free pass. To sweep any of this under the rug and try to move forward. Would be nothing short of a travesty. Und my alma mater, and my favorite sioux hockey team deserves better. I still cant believe we didnt really know who coach berry is/was. If anyone wants to attack me for what i’ve written. Please have at it. Facts are what they are. Go sioux

You're forgetting the part that Jackson supported Berry with bringing Mitchell in also.

His timeline is incorrect. Miller was drafted, then the victim's mom reached out to a Coyotes journalist to bring the story to light. Then UND booted him.

The league didn't say he wasn't welcome until a few years later when the Bruins signed him to a free agent contract.

So how would the Nodak jersey rights have led to Berry's demise here and on ice performance?

Expand

At first glance probably nothing. However, i believe schloss wrote a column about the nodak logo. Also included documents to show brad berrys daughter owned the rights. This really was a huge red flag. Lack of ethics, integrity, honesty and most importantly…. The university now had reason to be concerned about how bad this looked. After this, the rights to the nodak logo are signed over to und. Next red flag: Berry/a.d. want to add mitchell miller to the hockey team. Mitchell Miller had nationwide exposure due to years of bullying a disabled school classmate. The nhl wouldnt allow him to play. But our athletic dept thought it was smart to add him to the hockey roster. Und president ruled that miller wouldnt be allowed to play hockey here. Now once again, berrys leadership & decision making ability is called into question. As well as his integrity, ethics, etc. This hockey decision had th potential to cause huge problems for und. Special interest groups would have a hayday with this. Issues continued to come up. Now it points to incompetance. Wins and losses pale in comparison to what’s going on. It seems players didnt want to play for coach berry. Some players werent getting along. They wont play as a team.  On ice play got worse. Im not an insider. I have no inside information. I just believe the whole story needs to be told. Not swept under the rug.

Wait.  I thought Schlossman didn't write any stories that cast a negative light on the program.  🤷‍♂️

Did Brianna Berry sue UND to enforce any trademark ownership?  Did she license the NODAK name to UND for an unfair deal, or any deal?  Wondering how much the Berrys’ made, if any, off the trademark?  I know the optics aren’t good, but I am genuinely curious.

Miller was signed by the Bruins on November 4 2022, then his contract was terminated on November 6 2022 after fan pressure and pressure from the Bruins players on management.

Miller played 2021-22 with the Tri City Storm of the USHL
