Yeah the rumors were that the locker room was divided and that the players had more respect for Jackson supposedly. I guess we’ll see how this all shakes out. Quote

If that’s to be the case, would he lean on anyone knowledgeable in the college hockey world to help in the screening and decision making process? That's my #1 concern. It would only make sense for him to form a small group or have an advisor who can assist him with finding the best possible candidate. Not doing so would leave too much room for error. This next hire will define his career, he'll either be remembered fondly for this or the peasants will draw & quarter him. 1 Quote
Cratter Posted March 24 Posted March 24 By far the best UND head coach in my era: Dean Blais. Was 44 when he was hired at UND. ....to continue our statistics class from the other day. These years are related to what is called a "bell curve." Quote
dustnyou Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I have the best plan. Call Gavin McKenna and tell him he gets to pick the coach for next season on a one year deal. Quote
Popular Post Cratter Posted March 24 Popular Post Posted March 24 More fun.... ...for those who like to have fun.... You wanna talk real recruiting advantage: Gophers. The state produces the most amount of NCAA players. Biggest city. Biggest school. Biggest fan base. Most money for NIL. There's only like 3 major college hockey producing states. And the other 2 have major competition and spread those players out. Minnesota is the only state with a "monopoly." 2 4 Quote
Clark17 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The guy needed coaches in the WHL Former pro, local, checks all the boxes in my opinion Quote
brianvf Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Quote The players were informed at a team meeting Sunday night. Dane Jackson will serve as the program's interim head coach. Jackson has been an assistant with the program for the last 19 years. Berry had one year left on his contract. According to his contract, UND will owe him $493,500. Not a bad parting gift...half a mil to go relax for a bit. 1 1 Quote

Popular Post AJS Posted March 24 Popular Post Posted March 24 Looks like the new coach is going to have to win over Schlossman. He’s throwing a fit like we haven’t seen since women’s hockey was dropped. 8 Quote
crb1 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I have doubts that Chaves is up to the task as well. I would surmise he is leaning heavily on Erik Martinson for help with this. Erik seems to be pretty dialed into college hockey and is most likely helping Chaves drive the ship here. Quote

Teams have been since January trying to get players on the team to get in the portal, and 5 teams are already trying to flip a recruit. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Since @brianvf locked up the Fire Berry thread I had to screenshot this with credit to @Big A HG IMO this and only this needed to be the reason for the change. Schloss can go on and on about other points but this is not what this university's flagship sport should look like over the past decade. Zero reasons this team should not be one of 16 teams in the NCAAs every year. One NCAA win in the last 9 seasons. Once again UND fans will roll into Scheels this week for a regional only to watch four teams that doesn't include UND. Not to mention more empty seats in the Ralph nightly than I've seen in any year past plus the student section chanting "Fire Berry" on multiple nights. 4 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted March 24 Posted March 24 For a stunning period of time, like 20 years starting in 1997, UND's season would end one of three ways: - loss to eventual national champion (one layer away) - loss to team whose season is ended by eventual national champion (two layers away) - as national champion (zero layers away) Last year was three layers away (to Mich, to BC, to DU) and that's as close as UND's been for a while.. 2 Quote

Popular Post TwamleyShuffle Posted March 24 Popular Post Posted March 24 Schloss makes the comment that UND just fired the most successful coach on campus. Which in my opinion says more about athletics as a whole. If your best coach gets fired what does that have to say about the rest of them 5 Quote
