Genuine question here. Would you be higher on Raboin if he was still just an assistant coach with Minnesota?

love that ask...if he was associate head at Gophers, I would be way high on him

Dane wouldn’t be my top choice, I’m team Raboin. Having said that, Brad’s article today, while it might just be propaganda, isn’t wrong. No matter how we feel at the time of the hire, all that matters is the results.

If it’s Dane, I’m all in and you all should be too. I support this University, not individuals. Will I be critical if it’s unsuccessful, sure. But that’s part of fandom. But I’m also not going to end my loyalty to my Alma mater.

+1

Does anyone know if Chaves is actually interviewing anyone else? Wild.

Timeline. We know they opened it up nationally and that it closes tomorrow at 11:55 pm. Can interviews start before the job posting closes per University guidelines? Has anyone actually interviewed? Do you need three finalists?

It’s not adding up to me how Jackson has this locked up. You’re telling me Chaves said thanks but no thanks to Blashill and his resume? I find it so hard to believe that this job wouldn’t be appealing to some very worthy candidates. Jackson and his resume is so far better than everyone else’s and he interviewed so well (at the minimum I hope he would have to explain how opposite he is of Berry) that he had this locked up as soon as Hak said no? Not buying it.

My understanding of the process is that interviews won't start until the application window is closed and HR hands the applications to Chaves. My guess is they have a very good idea of who will apply, however.

Very strange, don't get why only reaching out to 1 sitting D1 coach. You'd think UND would want a wide selection to choose from so the best option can be had.

I thought national search ?

Yeah, I’ll be majorly disappointed that a blue blood program couldn’t land a big name, but I’ll still support the team.

i honestly don’t get what the rush is though. I guarantee a coach in the NCAA tournament would be interested in this job if Chaves waited till Sunday.

It would be nice for some new blood that which would bring back old time sioux hockey. I feel like a younger coach like Raboin would bring some of that energy back into the Ralph. With that said whoever the coach will be I will continue to support and cheer for Und. But I do miss the old Hak days and how he got the most he could out of teams.

Too bad, it’s Dane Jackson

Hiring Dane Jackson could be just fine, or it could be the 18 wheeler going off the cliff very quickly.

Would prefer Raboin or an experienced Canadian junior coach

And if it is hopefully he brings in some new assistant coaches and make some changes. The college game has changed and Berry couldn't change with it and hopefully if it is Jackson he will.

I won't go personal over a message board, but look back and see who I referenced before being more generic...it was the associate head at Michigan.  Yes, Michigan.  Not Augustana...a school where you might need a pulse to attend.  Michigan is a program with many championships, an elite academic institution basically on par with Ivy, a track record into the NTDP and Hockey Canada.  I don't know why the love affair with Rabboin...It appears he is being groomed as a high end coach, he might be a great coach and great guy, but the coach of Augustana now the head coach of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux?  That is a hard pill for an old guy like me.

O.k. So how has he improved Michigan?  What did he do as an assistant at Harvard? Don’t remember Harvard winning anything.  Besides, since UND isn’t even being considered by top recruits, shouldn’t we have a coach that can do more with less?  Regardless I will be looking to see Rassey taking over a blue blood in the next year or two.

somebody called Raboin a chippah....I am done commenting on the man, as I don't know him and have no recollection of Jan Brady State nor some college in SD nobody outside of the area has ever heard of...however, I do want to ensure vocabulary is correct...a non-drafted, walk-on by definition cannot be a chippah.  They can be a great player, which I am not saying he wasn't, although I don't recall him as a player...but chippaz are drafted and chippaz are full ride at 18.  Chippaz are chippaz.

You’re eitha a chippa or a grinda

A few questIons I would like answered by Dane Jackson before I would consider promoting him:

Why did the penalty kill perform so poorly for a large portion of the season?

Why do we seem to have so much trouble passing and receiving the puck?

Why are we constantly bringing in starting goalies from the portal every damn year? How do you plan to use the portal?

Why is there no chemistry with the players? Line juggling, locker room issues, other?

Why do we seem to have more injuries than other teams?

Why do we seem to go into a shell in the 3rd period when leading? Are we trying to win games, or trying not to lose? Do we want an attack or defensive style of play?

Any chance you would stop scheduling Bemidji State every year?

I took that as reaching out to one coach they know about. Could be others.

I would think they do this exactly how they did football. I’m sure there are some coaches out there that want to apply but don’t want it to be known.

Who the F$&7 cares if it’s a “big name”, I just want results and none of us on here can confidently say that they know who  will get those results.

You would think with all the support of Raboin on this forum that Chaves would be hearing similar praise from those advising him.
