I believe it was up at the end of last season. CBSSN wanted schools to pay a larger portion of production costs so the schools pulled out.

Really the only good thing about CBS was the broadcast itself.  First Ben Holden, then Alex Heinert, Starman color, and Shireen rinkside (could take her or leave her) had to be the best broadcast team calling hockey at the college age level.  The number of games kept getting fewer and fewer as the seasons rolled on, meaning that either CBS didn't really care about college hockey, or it wasn't a profitable venture, or both.  Like I said earlier, would love to see Starman (and Shireen, since I'm assuming it's a package deal) color UND's games all season.

I’d love to hear Jordan Schmaltz behind the mic if nothing else for the intermission analysis. That guy is really good.

He is god awful.  He can’t put a logical sentence together

No kidding. I can’t believe people actually enjoy listening to him and that fake dany heatley guy. Couple of frat bro iq 20s using so much slang to sound cool you can’t even understand what they’re talking about.

Not gonna lie, I hope he gets signed to do broadcast just because of this aggressive take 😆

I mean if he brought his Twitter persona to Midco, it would embarrass all of us. If he just brings his hockey brain and speaks like an adult, then he’ll be great.

I think @Username Taken was referring to what spews from his Twitter feed, although, that’s gotten better than and toned down from what it was a year ago.

He was on Midco a few years back.  IMO it was embarrassing.   Very Unprofessional

I will miss Starman color commentary.  Maybe he could do a season-long hockey color gig for Midco?  I also miss Jake Brandt color commentary.  Jim Scanlan just doesn't do it for me.

I actually like Scanlans short and to the point remarks. It’s clean and professional.

Did you like that he thought the coaching staff could do no wrong, and never called them out when the team was underperforming?  I like someone who will at least have some critical eye to what is happening.  Not saying he has to be super critical, but a little objectivity would be nice.

Need more Casey Hankinson's calls out the team doing bad and talks about how the other team is doing better. He's way better than Ben Clymer.

When he's being serious, Schmaltz does well.

Also, fun Schmaltz story here:

I'll give him credit.  That was a great story and he did well.  Just can't listen/watch when he starts the JSwish stuff.

Looking back at it Hankinson did really well during the "timeout" game. He described the emotion turn of that to a T while it happened (which seems pretty hard to do considering it's your alma mater)

Ben Clymer along with being shamelessly biased, just sucks overall. Sounds like an all time snob the way he talks.

Still remember Gopher fans getting incensed with LaPanta because he was way too excited for UND when the comeback was on.

As for Clymer, one just has to rewatch the Thanksgiving massacre game to know how much of an insufferable loser he is. Getting all pissy because UND was kicking the sh!t out of his precious Gophers. 🙄

Embarrass who? The crew of older fans who get offended when a young person talks like a young person? The pearl clutching is just odd to me.

He's done more to promote UND hockey and college hockey to the masses than nearly anyone.

Mentioning online how he can recognize a nice pair of tits the same way he can recognize a nice D zone breakout is not exactly the persona we’d want him bringing to the stage. It’s ok to like him and what he’s done for us  while also realizing he’s been absolutely obnoxious at times. Both things are true.

He's a podcaster whose audience is kids who listen to him for this funny stuff. Your point is fair that both can be true. The fault lies with those, IMO, who are expecting he should always be buttoned up.

Is he a journalist or a color commentator? Am I missing something here…

I remember him being honest about the game. He spoke his mind. What I don’t remember, is Scanlan going on forever tangents…
