He handled the interview very well! He will do UND proud during his time here. I am excited to see him play on Monday.

I agree with you it was a very good interview. I think there is some real optimism building for this season.

Looks like the Alerus is going cashless this year for football. Curious if the Ralph is doing the same thing for the upcoming season?

Hate this.....  Seems to be more and more Arenas, Stadium, etc. going to this.  Sometimes I don't want to use a card, I have the cash and would prefer to just use that.  No Way am I going to go convert my cash into a Debit card to be used and the concession stand.

What world do you live in that you don’t have a debit card?

Prefer that to only allowing cash at the beer stand

As long as going cashless doesn’t involve significant increases to beer prices I’m good with it.

Convert?   You have no other way to spend it?  I’m an old BG, but that’s kinda spooky.

Speaking of convert, where can you exchange U.S. dollars to Canadian dollars without a bank taking a huge share of the conversion?

Yes, I have a Debit card, but if I wanted to spend the cash I have I would need to convert it to a debit card before I would go to the Concession stand.

For Example if I wanted to give my kids money to get something at the concession stand I would need to give him/her my Card to use.

Well they are cutting their profits by whatever the CC fee is? (3-5%)

Not if you pass that on to the consumer

Sort of my point.  Consumer will end of paying more either directly (3% adding to CC Transactions) or Indirectly (Increasing in Product cost to Cover CC Fees).  The Alerus is making the CC companies more money.

2025 is the year. Just in case you didn’t know.

If they raise prices. I personally believe it’s for convenience, and traffic. I don’t want to stand in line forever. Swiping a card is a lot faster, than waiting for people to fumble through their ones and fives….

Handling cash is far from free. It's probably a wash or in their advantage in the grand scheme of things.

BG buys enough beer at games to launder cash from his meth lab business.   And now you know . . .  the rest of the story.  :D

I don't know that we as fans will really be able to break down the direct coach impact to the play and how that correlates, but I am interested to see if the coaching change is visible through how the team gels and plays on the ice.

Hearing about how Berry wasn't putting as much effort into recruiting as we may have expected, raises the question on if the level of effort was there in getting these guys to buy in and play the team game. It may have had nothing to do with Brad, but I've said before that some of these recent teams just never passed the eye test. You knew the skill was there, but there never seemed to be a crisp, clean, cohesive team game.

Definitely been a while since I've been overly excited about UND hockey, and I'm really hoping this helps turn it around.

I think the biggest difference you’ll see is just how much harder and more aggressive this years team will play compared to last . This a combination of how DJ expects them to play, the type of players coming in, and the soft guys being shown the door.

2 things I’d like to see this upcoming year (we’ll see if they come to fruition…)

Defensemen activating more in the offensive zone and getting involved in the cycle. (From my view the past couple of years there seemed to be an unwillingness to go low to high and get the D involved at times)

Ultra aggressive forecheck similar to how Florida sets up where even the D have a free rein to pressure up and hem pucks in the zone. Smaby had a coaching clinic video I’d seen where he laid out a system pretty similar to above so curious if him and Jax decide to apply that.

I'll absorb the extra $0.45 a beer to not have to run to the atm every game.

Other than the issuing bank, only one company atm around here dispenses cash for free:   Kwik Trip.    Others typically charge 2-3 bucks.

Not counting cash back on purchases.

I don't ever carry cash. Use the card, I don't mind that rule.

I guess I'm not interested in making more Money for Visa or Master Card.  I love the transparent companies charging a 3% transaction fee for using a card.  The other Companies are charging more to everyone to absorb the fees that CC Companies are charging.

I work for a company that taking CC's and I see the fees.  I will take a check any day rather than CC.  The number of NSF checks you get is far less that the fees you are paying to the CC companies.

I guess we will see if the Alerus is absorbing the fees  as they claim by if they raise their prices.

If these places can get 10% more business because people aren't fumbling with cash and the process is sped up and the same every time, the fees will be offset with the added business.  There are many times I've wanted something, but not bad enough to stand in a long line and then I just skip it.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.  Cash is not fee-less for a business either as there are deposit fees at the bank.  Everything has a fee nowadays, so may as well make the process as fast and easy as possible.

Not saying this has happened, but one other thing to note is maybe they've had issue with cash not adding up....a few too many buckaroos hitting the tip jar instead of the till, or just math incompetence.  If you've ever worked anywhere with a till, you'll know that there's always someone whose till never adds up at the end of the night, even if there's nothing nefarious and it's honest mistakes along the way.  Easy to make mistakes when in a hurry and the line is 25 deep between quarters or periods.
