I'd assume they think Spunar is better and that Hobie would portal. We'll see, I guess. Already a lot of hot rumors about him leaving, so that wouldn't surprise me.

I'm guessing that they are assuming Homer will only play one season at UND even though he has two years of eligibility left?
Unless all three goalies (Homer, Spunar, and Heil) are ok fighting for the job in 26/27.

Hobie didn't look happy during the senior day presentation when he was behind TJ on the bench.

So article by Schloss says Spunar was being recruited by Berry and company. We knew UND was going to hit the portal for 1 goalie. So I suppose there was a risk of losing Hedquist.

Yes, this has been obvious since Homer committed. He wasn’t going to be a backup for 3 straight seasons.

If he's hoping to go somewhere and start, he's going to think WCHA or AHA would be my guess. 
His numbers haven't been exactly amazing in his two seasons.

We won the Penrose his freshman year. If not for the 3rd period collapse in St Louis we would look back more fondly on that season.

If Hedquist leaves you bring in Sandy as the #3 and we've got us a goalie tandem.

I feel bad for a lot of goalies now.  In the past, coaches were more apt to either rotate goalies or get a guy in fairly often.  With how tight the pairwise rankings are these days you have to be pretty confident in your back up to throw him out there as much when a few bad outings can doom your pairwise ranking.

And with the portal you’re competing against a lot of other goalies every year.  Not just your teammates

Simple solution if you don't want to be a backup ... play better. Too many of these kids feel they are owed playing time rather than earning it.

Completely agree. He doesn't seem to just be going along with the status quo. He is clearly tailoring it to be what he feels we need to compete. Can't fix all problems in a season, but you can bridge the gap and give yourself time to recruit and build a system. 

-IMO there will be a better effort on recruiting. Thats from a combo of what we were hearing about Berry's efforts in that department and the addition of Chyzk.

-Hopefully transfers will dwindle over the next year or two to only include very limited additions year in and year out.

-Hoping we can get back to producing some decent goalies that we have for multiple years rather than depending on transfer consistently.

Maybe Jackson's effort doesn't pan out, but I'd rather see us try something new and fail, rather than continue the slow decline and mediocrity we have witnessed over the past 8 years.

exactly! We are not seeing what is happening in practices and that is where the coaches are going to make the call. We need to stop feeling bad for Hobie because at the end of the day, he isn't doing something right to deserve to start.

 True, don't know what is going on during practice, but he certainly had plenty of opportunities during games to own the job. Showed flashes, but certainly never dominated or did anything to push TJ out. Might do great somewhere else ... might do great under a new coach .... I wish him the best, but its not like he wasn't given a look.

I'll be interested to see where Huson goes. Wasn't he going to go to Omaha before switching to UND?

It seems to me that our fanbase has forgotten this and are okay with handing the most important job to someone because "they deserve it". We should be expecting our players to be ready at a high level all the time whenever their number gets called.

Huson was enrolled at UND after passing on juniors.

I assume you mean Hedquist?  I believe he was originally committed to CC. (Huson was a midseason add from the club team. )

If memory serves, Hobie was originally committed to CC as you’d mentioned but then decommitted and came here.
