Playing for one team while in talks with another team for the following year. Even PJ Fleck would have a hard time Rowing the Boat in the same direction. Nah, PJ can talk out of both sides of his mouth fluently. Quote

This would stop most of the "mercenary recruiting" that is taking place right now. How about each athlete gets one transfer but must sit out a year. This would stop the players that develop well at their original school from jumping ship after their junior year. This would be a little tricky for students that graduated in three years that want to transfer to another school because their current school doesn't offer the desired major. Case by case basis maybe. Quote

A balance must be found in the middle. 1 Quote

Special circumstances such as coaching changes/early graduation should be the only exceptions to the rule. 2 Quote

A school, after all, usually foots the entire bill of an upper player's scholastic & food expenses while playing for them; plus all the time spent instructing him to elevate his game. Then a player leaves & the school is left without any recompense. A pro team gets compensated when a player leaves outside of free agency, no reason why a college team couldn't either. Almost all relationships these days are transactional. UND & the other big boys can better absorb these unexpected losses, but it's a precarious & unfair situation for the smaller schools who always have to act as feeder programs for the more established schools. If you want to make it less of an uphill battle for the smaller programs to succeed, a balancing needs to happen. The disparity between the NCHC, BIG10, HEA and the AHA & CCHA will only get wider in the coming years. 3 hours ago, tnt said: Which gives you the situation like with Perron and OMac. Cancer is defined as the uncontrolled growth & spread of abnormal cells ... I'd posit that a cancer in the locker room is the same principle, but instead of mutated cells spreading, you have a lackadaisical attitude that slowly affects your teammates around you because you're not trying as hard as you once did; thereby affecting their play, as well. Not going as hard into the corners for loose pucks, not sacrificing your body to make a play, gliding instead of skating hard, taking shifts off, backing away from the normal smack talk & scrums between whistles because you just don't care anymore ... it all adds up. Making them sit a year like they used to might make them more committed in the first place. On the other hand, if they know they only have one transfer, maybe they would have a different approach to where they commit in the first place. Regardless, something needs to change. Not just for hockey but for everything. The college level free agency is stupid and even the NCAA knows it. Hopefully they can reel it back in over the next few years. NIL needs to be reeled in as well. I'm fine with kids making some money to live comfortably and support themselves. These sports are their jobs and they can't exactly go work off campus jobs like other students ... they don't have the time. BUT when you have players making millions of dollars to play college (Sanders, Manning, Etc.) .... well, its just a joke. Thats why you play pro, not college. 2 Quote

Would have been interesting to see all the other Sioux stand around and watch him get worked over. 2 Quote
