That’s what Berry will say again when our season ends that it is unacceptable with UND’s culture to have a season like that because they expect to contend for a National title. Well, guess what, you tried to focus on winning in the playoffs, so it is now put up or shut up time. Enough talk about it. Time to get it done, otherwise I expect the administration to agree with all of your year end speeches and deem it as unacceptable for a proud hockey tradition to have home ice as a highlight. 1 Quote

crb1 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago All joking aside, I don’t think there’s a realistic chance our AD moves on from Berry after this season. Honestly, I’d expect one of the assistants—likely Karl or Dillon—to take the fall instead ala Matt Shaw. Quote

farce poobah Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago 2 hours ago, Oldguy said: So let's look back on what went wrong this season (because it's basically over). Coaching staff went with one Jr. and the rest underclassmen on D. That's just bad roster management. It absolutely killed them this season. Injuries - that is not anyone's fault. Bad luck. Lack of energy, focus, and grittiness ("hard skill"?, HARDLY) - was evident in many games this year, IMO. That's bad coaching. So, two of these come down to poor coaching = poor coaching is the dominant theme on not even having 20 wins at the end of the regular season. I'd add "several recruiting mistakes" on the top of my list. With roster sizes and scholarship limits as they are, you just can't miss. And we missed on several recruits. (I won't name names but we can all see it.) This has the feel of a coaching staff that's just playing out the string. (playing favorites, failing to make changes or respond to opponent in-game changes, failing to deter mistakes) The only good thing of an early season end is that we get an early start on coaching staff changes. It's past time for fresh approaches and fresh thinking. 1 Quote
ChrisUND1 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago At the end of the day,you have to be a leader that young men follow. Brad Berry, Dane Jackson, Karl Goehring, Dillon Simpson, and staff are NOT those men. Quote

If some of the rumored players do leave that will be an indictment for me and B-rad et al will need to go. 1 Quote

MafiaMan Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I’m old enough to remember people thinking this was OK as long as we won a title once a decade… Spoiler alert: it’s not. 3 Quote

90siouxfan Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I have wondered if B-rad's early sucess put a mental glitch in his head, that he is a great, champion quality coach... One that will get to the prize if he just keeps doing his thing. I wish one of Ralph's known mantras was "your only as good as your last..." Quote
