Can never fault a kid for taking a better offer to a better school.

Then don't take the first offer down the pike. But I'm old school and was taught if you commit to something you follow through. I know that's not how we roll now.

Lost another one to the goofs

Hopefully he will thoroughly enjoy playing for MN, compiling a 7-5 record and a season ending appearance in the Mayo, Pinstripe, Quick Lane or similar prestigious bowl game. Goodbye and good luck to him.

Were we his first offer?

With 2-3 of those wins being meaningless early season victories over cream puffs.

PJ just hit 37-37 in the Big Ten.  To be accurate, that's fishing for sun fish with the boat anchored in one place.

I’m old, loyalty used to be two way, if it’s only one way(which it has become over last 50 years) then have to figure out the new system and try to take care of yourself

It was never two way. That was a lie told to players to keep them from rocking the boat of the rules for thee but not for me system that we used to have. Coaches could leave in the middle of the night for no penalty. If players wanted a better fit they had to sit a year after being granted their release.

I guess I was referring to life in general.

Well we’re talking about 18 year old football players and shouldn’t be pretending that it’s the same as in life. However, most companies treat employees the way “student-athletes” used to get treated, so maybe I would argue a similar point on life in general. You can’t act like everyone will be good on their word and not have different intentions behind your back. There is a very important difference between loyalty and blind loyalty. The latter resembles stupidity more than anything.

A smart coach, knowing he has some FBS talent in his committed class, will knowingly overrecruit by a few players.  And, we have a smart coach, so no surprises when a few take FBS offers.

Disagree as far as football is in fact used to prepare these young men for life so there is relatability between the two (football, life), at least there is intent to relate the two with the current staff at UND football. I can confirm that.

With that said, I agree that you shouldn’t have blind loyalty; it goes both ways.

People are quite literally dogging him for flipping. We celebrate when we flip a kid. It’s part of the game. Is it a red flag when a coach leaves a team after brining in guys with the assumption that he will develop them at his current destination?

When we got the guy to flip from us a month or so ago and we were all cheering him on, I was going to make a sarcastic post.....saying I wonder if we should question his loyalty or commitment since he dropped his other school and chose UND, think was a kid from NIU?

As I knew when we got a kid who flipped, these comments would come out. The kid hasn't stepped foot on campus for a practice or anything yet, if he got an offer from bigger school and chance to play games against teams like Michigan etc, plus more NIL money....most would take it. And I think many on this board would take it too if you were at that age, in that position, in the current climate of things.

I am OK with kids getting some money for their hard work and effort, but I dont like the dollar amounts they are getting up to, it has gotten a little crazy.

I hope we can keep Rucker, he has worked with the coaches and they have spent time with him, to me that is harder when those types of people leave, but if its moving up to a half way decent FBS team I understand it.

Rucker can get more visibility playing for UND next year than the  bigger schools if the Schmidt upgrades continue. The MVFC Dakota schools have the eye of the pros. Sitting or playing part time elsewhere doesn't guarantee anything. Old saying "it's better to be the head of a mouse than the tail of a lion". Hope this worrying is all for naught.

Yes, a starting spot is not guaranteed elsewhere. And Schmidt himself has helped put multiple edge players into the NFL recently

The xDSUs have proven that great players on those teams have as good or better chance getting drafted playing high level FCS then hopping to some FBS team.  UND still needs to prove it.

FBS has crazy money to throw around.

Does it seem like someone connected to Lance is working hard to shop him around?

We are lagging behind the other offer posts in terms of engagement. Watch his film. We could use him. Get on the twitters and do something.
