2025 UND football

Kelly is a good friend of mine.  I guarantee you that he is a strong UND supporter.  No Governor of this state is going to fail to support one of its two largest universities is playing for a national championship.  He would have to be an idiot not to do that from a political standpoint.  WHEN we get to the point of making it that far, I would not be surprised if Kelly makes the pilgrimage to attend.  Kelly has been at our tailgating trailer for UND football many times and I expect will do so in the future - just not during pheasant season…. He goes to Sioux hockey games as well.

It's too bad Chaves had to let this thing hit rock bottom before bringing in Schmidt.  Schmidt (or a Schmidt like candidate) should have started 2-3 years ago.  Watching this game and the NDSU/SDSU game makes a guy realize how far away UND is.

If you think this is rock bottom, you have a short memory. The program was in significantly worse shape before Bubba took over.

I will apologize for him, he was only referring to MBB, WBB, VB, SB, & Soccer.  You are correct, FB is in a slightly better spot having won zero playoff games in 11 seasons.

The photo of Bubba sleeping in a team meeting was the final straw. If not for that photo, Bubba might still be in charge of FB.

My point is, he isn't in charge of FB anymore.

I really don't know what he is doing in his new, made-up retirement job.

Lol.  A company shill to the very end.  I suppose if you want to compare Bubba to Mussman at the end line by line (in a vaccuum) you could maybe say the overall team is very marginally better.  But to that I would say 1) Have higher standards than being better than what Mussman was at the end and 2) Bubba barely moved the needle on this program after all of his years.....meanwhile UND fell farther and farther behind the SDSUs....NDSUs.....and more recently Montana State and USDs of FCS.  By his lack of meangful progress he dragged this program farther back from the pack than it ever was under Mussman.

I agree.  Mussman was coach during move up transition and we didn't have much to lose.  When Bubba took over everyone expected great things.   Reality was much different.

Mussman was 100% pure incompetence personified.

Bubba was not incompetent, he just couldn't get us to the next level as a program. Some of that wasn't his fault (the antiquated facilities for one), but overall he just didn't have what it takes to get us from average to great.

You think the governor of a state is going to pick sides of the two major universities in the state?  Get a life and get over it.  UND needs to give him something to post on his twitter account to make our state proud.   What did he say that was wrong?  Fantastic Game?  Great Season? Incredible Dynasty?  All true.  The jealousy of NDSU is so bizarre on this forum.  UND needs to go out and do what NDSU did.  The biggest mistake was when UND chose not to follow NDSU to D1.  They have paid for it ever sense.
