Nah, not in the Alerus Center. We owe the jackbunnies one, fly on up for the ball game … gonna be a good one

Agree completely different animal when we are in the Alerus.  Felt pretty good about us beating SDSU prior to today.  Am a little nervous about it now, but home field we should be able to get it done. We definitely owe them. We need a win even if its by one point, but I sure would love to just kick their a*** next week. Still hoping for a #7 seed, would probably need to spank SDSU in the last week for hope of that.

I think UND needs to win to get in

Given how bad SDSU has looked lately, if we lose to them at home....yeah.. .it's a really bad look.

Even if we do make the playoffs after a loss next week, it will be an undeserved berth.  A win next week should get us another home game the week after.

Won’t matter. UND wins

And yet people, including our own “fans”, think we don’t deserve to be in a field of 24 playoff teams … pathetic.

The Fargo ag college propaganda machine continues to pump out bullish*t that some fools actually listen to still …

It also still has SDSU at 5 and I’m not really sure they should be in the playoffs at 7-5

true...there are about 10 good to decent teams in 1aa...and we should be right about the middle...6 seems fair.

Football is a team sport and consists of three phases.  Offense, defense  and special teams

Unds defense has been lights out this year.  One of the best in the FCS.  They haven’t given up a single 20 point game in the MVFC games and haven’t allowed a 400 yard game in conference play including four straight games of under 300 yards ( 221, 270, 268, 252). That’s impressive in the way the game is played nowadays. Fantastic turnaround from years past.  Although Injuries are adding they have been a very composed, focused and hungry unit.  Hats off to the D.

UNDs offense on the other hand is in disarray.  OC doesn’t seem capable of running a D1 offense and Jerry has been  below average the last 3 games.  Sawyer is about the only offensive player capable of making plays.  Hard to win games and score points when you rely on one guy and he is not the qb.

The first 8 games of the year when the offense was playing decent UND outscored its opponents 191-40 (24.9-5.0) in the first half.  The last 3 games ….21-31 ( 7.0- 10.3 )  7 points at the half of all three games.  Absolutely horrible !    It’s a team sport and the offense isn’t getting it done. Looking at the four losses the offense had a chance to win it in the end but failed. They played decent in the first 3 qtrs and failed in the 4th.   They have the talent on the offensive side to be much better than what they’re showing. Can it be corrected ?

I guess UND is where a kicker goes to become an untrusted kicker.  Most of their recruits had really good accolades.  That puts Schmidt in a bad spot in close/ competitive games.  Doesn’t trust his kicker and now can’t trust his offense.  Flip a coin and roll with it I guess. Both options make me nervous……couldn’t  imagine being the HC for those calls.

Their D can carry this team only so far .  At some point the offense and special teams has to step up and become D1 level. It’s a team effort and currently it’s one sided.

If UND makes the playoffs the offense is going to have to make a significant jump in production for und move on to the next rounds or it could be an early exit once again.

Agree- Defense is lights out. Offense is regressing with time, not developing/improving. Coaching there is a concern. Special teams would be fine if no blocked punts and had an actual field goal kicking unit …

Thankfully, you know what they say: defense wins championships. This team is built for playoff turmoil

To go from one of the worst defenses in the conference to one of the best in one year is quite remarkable. Every week they are able to contain the other teams primary offensive weapon.

Offensively, 3 things will make us better.  1. Fruechte can do better with play calling, preparation, schematics 2. Players can play better 3. Get better players and that relieves some of the pressure of 1 and 2.  Since 3 isn't achievable this season, really need the OC and players to step up.  My gut tells me Fruechte is on the warm seat.  He can cool that with a good performance vrs Jacks and a play-off W.

We have a sophomore at QB. That almost guarantees growing pains.

We have a good O-line and RBs. We should emphasize the running game.

That would take some of the pressure off of our QB.

But Mr. B1G/NFL (Fruechte) obviously thinks otherwise.

I guess we'll find out this Saturday which one of us is right.

Disagree. That’s an excuse.

Blueprint FCS programs (NDSU, SDSU) would like a word with you …

Freuchte can make his life easier by just calling easy to execute plays when we need a couple yards. He’s gotta stop with asking Jerry to throw it clear across the field when a slant would do just fine. Or if we have it first and goal at the 3. Just run it 4 times and kick the extra point. Also, get back to using the TEs for Christ’s sake!

Agree with this approach, certainly.
The strength of the team is the defense and the offensive line, so we need to call offensive plays accordingly. We’ve got away from that the past few weeks. It shouldn’t be hard to run downhill and then use play-action, but we’ve been our own worst enemy. Too many jet sweeps with Hoskins; or repeatedly going to wide zone with Seidl which occasionally results in losing yards; or calling 5-step drops with prolonged progression throws for Jerry Football...

just get back to the basics… then you can be creative once you’ve actually established the L.O.S. … need to strike that balance

the offensive regression has been concerning, but South Dakota State in the Alerus this weekend will be just what we need to right the ship …

If Jerry had gotten playing time last year, I would agree with you.

But that stupid decision to not play him in obvious garbage time situations is costing us now.

Jerry would have progressed more this season if he hadn't rode the bench all last season.
