They were better than both teams and lost. Basically gave both road games away in the same fashion. Is this team better than last year? Absolutely. They should be 3-0 but here we are again. Valpo will be a layup like PSU. Quote

Leigh is a good pass catcher but he’s not a very good runner, imo. Would rather see a heavier rotation of Seidl and Ziebarth. Especially Z. Quote

While the use of kicking tees provides a consistent and controlled environment, it fails to simulate the variable ball placement inherent in live-game situations. To enhance a kicker's performance under pressure, it is crucial to move beyond static practice methods. A more effective approach would involve a training program centered on adaptability. This would entail regular practice with a rotation of different snappers and holders to prepare kickers for a variety of ball placements. The focus of this training would be on adjusting kicking mechanics to locate the ball's sweet spot regardless of its position or angle. Furthermore, a strategic collaboration between the football program's kicking coach and a skills coach from a soccer team could be highly beneficial. This interdisciplinary approach would allow for the fine-tuning of a kicker's mechanics by leveraging specialized knowledge of the biomechanics and technique of kicking a ball under various conditions. While my own coaching days are behind me, such an innovative training model could improve the efficacy and consistency of kicking at any level of competition. This is not an attempt to advise coaches on their profession, as they are experts in their field. Instead, it's an idea presented for consideration. I definitely appreciate your very well written post. 2 Quote

They are close, but not there yet to beat an average P4 team or high level FCS team on the road. Very close. How does this translate to an average FCS team at home? High level FCS team at home? Elite FCS team at home? Above average / average FCS team on the road? I’m looking for a level of consistency and steady improvement. IF that happens, every game is winnable on the schedule. I understand the disappointment, but I don’t understand the negativity after 3 games from the product we’ve seen on the field. Well stated! 2 Quote
Hawkster Posted Monday at 03:43 AM Posted Monday at 03:43 AM I was gone this weekend but did manage to watch the game. This was beyond bad. I can't believe UND didn't win this thing by a comfortable margin. I'm not blaming the players but boy the coaches, makes me wonder if Bubba isn't somewhere on the staff. On to Valpo. I really think these easy games like Valpo and Portland State make things worse. We go and blow them out and it makes it look like this team can do anything and then good teams come along and expose the weakness. It may not be a popular thought but it's true. I'd like to see a little more challenging teams in the non con part of the schedule. We'll win by 40+ next week and then on to conference games. Montana=Coulda/Shoulda/Woulda. 1 Quote

I mean, we went on the road to a ranked FBS and FCS team for nonconference this year and have the hardest strength of schedule in the country. 1 2 Quote

I don’t disagree with scheduling cupcakes but also they count towards the D1 wins which we learned we need at least 7 of those. Now I’d like to play better opponents at home too because Valpo does not get me excited at all and neither did Portland State. 1 Quote

The first 4 games of the schedule, there are is only 1 that both fans bases can get excited about and that would be Montana vs UND. I doubt KSU was excited to see UND on the schedule. Can't wait for the conference season to start, as I just can't get excited about watching Valpo this weekend. My Hope is put them away, and game to be over at half time. I would sacrifice playing the KSU game if they went we didn't need to play Valpo. Portland st is a Big sky team with some past success, so don't really do much about not playing that game, just unfortunate they are so bad right now. Quote

Completely agree. With all said, the prize is ultimately won in conference season (MVFC) and then the playoffs, so people need to be patient. The upcoming conference schedule is when we can get critical … we’re not there yet. This team and program is building for that upcoming conference schedule though … 4 Quote
