I’m surprised they don’t have tall sizes with all the big dudes on the team. It’s like shirt companies love making shirts as short as possible

Haha!!! They should have tall sizes. Sizes for all ages.

This x100

Same with basketball - you'd think they would have more tall options

Not surprised and where we deserve to be after last year.

It's just a preseason poll. I hope we do better than 7th. The Hawks will always have me in their corner!!!! Cheers to do better than 7th in the standings!!!

Agreed, there will always be headscratchers like how does Youngstown and Southern Illinois get the benefit of the doubt but not UND? Having attending nine games last year if our defense could have made one or two plays we would have easily been 7-5 - those plays will be made this year.

I can't see SDSU finishing 2nd with all the forced changes in their program and losing a tremendous QB.  Still a lot of talent, but Dan Jackson is the coach of the year if he gets them to top 2 in the MVFC.

As far as UND football goes:

@ K State- Loss, but lets hang in there and show the program has made necessary changes.

Portland State-Win

@ Grizz-A very winnable game, but I'll say a loss.  K state environment should help the kids for this environment.

Valpo-Lots of playing time for all the kids this game.  Win.

@ Northern Iowa-Win

Youngstown-Win

@ SIU-Win

Indiana State-That loss stung, lets route them at home.  Win

@ USD-Can't remember the last victory in the dome....Loss

NDSU-A full house for the bizen.....heart over head....Win

@ Murray-Win

SDSU-Win

I think 9-3 or 8-4 is very much on the table.  Two out of three against the Dakota schools is very much in play.  We've got to get over being a layup for teams on the road.

I think the SDSU QB is the real deal.

And that’s where we are such a question. JTJ may look the part but sure sounds like he didn’t have the smoothest spring, which isn’t unexpected I guess. Need one of the QBs to step up and show they are the guy! When’s the last time we had a game changing QB?

Head Coach x Defense

It's hard to emphasize how bad both have been for years. New era. It's going to be fun to watch.

The offense will hopefully be able to run the ball very well, which should take some pressure off whoever the QB will be.

IMO the direction of this season will be determined by 1) DL play 2) QB play 3) LB play

Probably just a skewed view on my end of USD but I don’t think they replicate last year. Sure Bouman returns and he’s good but they lost most of their OL, if not all. Lost Theis, Bell and Galbreath. Lost at least 3 of their best defenders including the DPOTY. Lost their head coach, although I’m sure he’s still around and I do like Johansen a lot. I don’t know, only time will tell I guess.

Like Tom said in his article yesterday, this season is really hard to predict.

Questions at QB and a new look defense could make some of these games go in a lot of different directions.

Although I think our defense will have their struggles, I don’t think they can be worse than last year. Will take a couple of years to rebuild this defense IMO. Similar thoughts at QB. Simon had some ok games, but I think JTJ or Kaminsky at the very least is a step above the production we got at that position last year.

I would hope 8-4 would be the bare minimum for this team.    Anything worse and I'll be very disappointed.   As far as the poll goes, at least UNI is no longer being overrated.   Looks like people finally see them for what they really are.

If we pull off the upset against the Griz......the rest of the MVFC wont be sleeping on us. While I was ok being overlooked by other fan bases under Schmidt's first year and transition....would sure love to get things rolling early in the season!

Hope this year is finally we have the type of QB we've been waiting for....for what seems like an eternity. Jury is definitely still out on that one though.

New Coach, new defensive scheme, likely new QB.....yeah we are ranked where we probably should be.  Could win anywhere for 3 games to 8 games!!  We will wait and see I guess.

I think we will iron out any wrinkles early and get better as the season goes on.

Or 9, 10, or 11 wins?
