Kab
Cut the cord a week from Monday will lose some to the portal if bubba is let go and others will portal if he stays odds are that the AD doesn’t give a !@#$ about football and won’t do anything why they hired him after he was let go from eastern Washington is foolish
wheelsup
After the last 4 weeks bubba has to know the game has passed him by. If he has any remaining pride and love for UND football, as he says he does, he will retire. In the previous years he could always argue that the team showed promise.. this year the xDSUs really embarrassed us.. if u watched the usd game and didn’t just look at the final score u know that game was a killing.. and we lost to terrible teams on the road.
Longtime fan
Listened to the pregame talk show on 96.1. They interviewed bubba and he said defensively they need to get back to fundamentals on tackling …lol. Eleven years into coaching and the players just need fundamentals on how to tackle !?? Cmon !! What an insult to the previous players/winners at und. Don’t think the 2001 team needed fundamentals on how to tackle in game 11. Complete waste of money und is wasting on this guy as a head football coach. If the team needs to learn the fundamentals on how to tackle …well …no words. THAT fundamental staple should not have to be installed into a players psyche and will…. just a given. But I guess not at und. Question for Chavez…...can you look in the mirror and truly say ….you made the best decision for und football, und players and und fans ? Or did you make the best monetary decision? Easiest decision?
Popular Post Siouxperfan7
Bubba has 3 years left on his contract. What’s the buyout? I don’t even care how much it is. Have to do it. Bubba has been here over a decade and has 1 playoff win. Unacceptable. Chaves needs to sit him down at the end of the season and give him a chance to resign. If he doesn’t you have to let him go. Don’t let him get away with firing the DC. There has been one common factor throughout these 11 years. And that is Bubba. Time to move on.

shep
There is no incentive for Bubba to resign. Don’t give me the “love for UND” argument. Im guessing he’s like most men; he loves his wife and family more. Who would give up a nice payout given to you by your boss?

Other than age and wanting to have less stress in your life. Maybe he has a coming to moment like the UNI coach (doubtful). We’re stuck

I also think most people don’t stand in front of an interviewer telling that person and community how much they love their job and company. And I actually do think bubba really loves UND football and I think he is embarrassed at being the 4th best team in the dakotas and it not being particularly close. In reality this one is totally on the AD.. the last extension was totally unnecessary and incompetent.

I doubt Bubba would need to work at Valley Dairy if the coaching gig craps out. But a health problem from stress can make a person question if chasing franklins is a wise path. I mean if he was fired, which I’m sure he would have been, I’d imagine his buyout was a decent amount. I bet there still may have been some sort of financial settlement between the two parties. I have no idea why Bubba’s contract was extended. You point out the obvious problem to making a change: money. The folks who seem to be demanding a change, aren’t willing or able pony to up $1 million. (One guy who claims to be “retired independently wealthy “ demands a change but isn’t listed as ever giving a substantial donation to UND. There are many more who are frustrated with the lack of success but don’t want to throw money at a contract buyout. 7 minutes ago, gfhockey said: Can we slide bubba over to alumni foundation and have them pay his salary? UND1983
This sucks. Last winter we had a coach who doesn’t know when to quit and an AD that doesn’t know when to make him.

Longtime fan
SD won despite having 132 yards of penalties to 55 for und. They also lost the TO battle …one to zero. Home game for und. SD played an ok game. If these two teams played 10 times …SD wins 9 all day long. More than likely 10 but giving und benefit of doubt for one game ? Und is not in the same ballpark with the other Dakota schools. Und has to have every thing go just exactly right to be competitive. Today …Und had nearly all the intangibles in their favor and still failed. Told my wife today …..I need to think of something positive with und football. It’s been too many years of Americas funniest football in grand forks. It then occurred to me … if you’re a young individual that aspires to become a head coach at one point in your life ….please watch bubba and do the exact opposite. That’s as positive as can get.
