A team is a reflection of its coach. UND has plenty of talented players, there's no reason why they can't at least be competitive with DU. But they continue to make bonehead plays, are undisciplined when it comes to penalties, cannot string together 60 minutes & the element of teamwork seems to be an alien concept for them. All this even after 6 weeks, which smacks more of a coaching/managing/motivating issue than a personnel one. 11 games into the season & UND played no better tonight than in their embarrassing loss to Augustana. Even with a full lineup then, UND looked lost. That game was an omen of what to expect this season. UND can overpower weaker teams with nice individual plays, but are like a ship without a rudder when they face talented, disciplined teams like DU; because playing like a bunch of individuals will always lose out to a well-structured team. What frustrated me listening to Berry’s post game comments last night was his acknowledgment of the penalty trouble the team got into. Broken record, tired of hearing about that week in and week out without any sense of improvement in that regard. As an example, the penalty we took in the third didn’t burn us in the sense of giving up another goal but it took another precious 2 minutes off the clock for the team to try to generate some chances, gain some momentum. However, it felt like a period where DU really locked things down and UND had trouble as it was with zone entries and gaining O zone time. Quit talking about what we need to do differently and start doing it. 2

Oxbow6 Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM Share Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM Put OMac at center between James and Strinden. Move the 5th back with Schmaltz and add Kunz. Swanson Sasha and Perron. Last 3 are your the 4th line. Got get some creativity on offense.

So far, this balanced approach isn’t working. Load your skilled players together, and put your best upperclassmen together. Time for people to step up.

Some of the members here seem to know about putting together more effective lines than the HC, and that's concerning to me...if one of your more productive forwards from last year (OMac) has 0 goals through 11 games, ya might wanna put him at center, coach. Geesh. Season is only roughly 1/3 or so finished & a lot can happen in the 2nd half, but tonight feels almost like a must-win game for the team: if they lose, they miss out on gaining very valuable PWR points, become even more of a bubble team & enter the next 6 games before break with zero momentum. A win would be massive for their PWR & confidence.

But I 100% agree that we need a line to load up some offensive lines. They may not be as defensively reliable as a line but we haven’t been defensively reliable half the games anyway so we might as well put a few more pucks in the net haha
siouxfaninseattle Posted yesterday at 07:18 PM Share Posted yesterday at 07:18 PM I thought he team played a decent game but were outplayed by a better team. The players that took Berg's spot on the PP looked like they were too deep and took away a good angle to shoot from. That they are 0 for 11 without Berg is troubling.
