Last time UND hired outside the "family" they got Dean Blais.  That seemed to work out pretty well for everyone.

Not really going out of the family hiring a head coach, when he was a previous assistant at UND.

You realize that ChatGPT is just a glorified message board.  If not, put all your money down on their stock suggestions.

He was a UND assistant coach for 8 years.

But yeah, nowadays it seems even our assistant coaches need to former UND players.

You're right, I was thinking more along the lines that he actually played for Minnesota.

My bad; just meant that they actually hired someone who wasn't a former player.

NCAA Hockey (and hockey generally speaking) is popular in about 10 of 50 states. Extremely popular in maybe 5 or 6 of those 10. Sad reality, but such is life

Pardon my interruption but what has discussing the difference in viewership in Fcs football and hockey have to do with firing Berry which is supposed to be this topic listing?

More like a fun Google search with opinions, right or wrong.

But I also love glorified message boards.

So yeah siouxsports and chaptgpt for the win!

The problem we have is that we need to move fast, but in the same token, do we want Bill Chaves making a decision on another coach?  If they plan on giving Berry another year, they should get rid of Chaves first, so we can get someone with a successful record of coach hiring.

My gut feeling is BB gets one more year, so take that as a good sign.   I thought the same thing about Bubba for a couple days after the season ended.

…and if hockey is so insignificant, then why give a crap about the outcomes.  I think  anyone knows the reason, it’s because hockey fans are very passionate about their sport.  Give me a Stanley Cup playoff game with the passion and intensity any day over the most popular sport football playoffs where the stars are so full of themselves.  So yes, football is more popular with viewership, but hockey is my sport hands down.

Someone said Berry has taken UND Hockey several steps down below NDSU Football, to which Yzerman19 stated that NDSU Football is irrelevant nationally because it's FCS, to which several said NCAA Hockey is mostly irrelevant nationally. Just a tangent that happens in message board threads sometimes.

I think we all know the program has gotten stale, Berry isn't pushing the program forward, thus should be fired.

On topic: Hopefully UND hockey can stay out of the abyss.

Kinda feels like the abyss right now; playoff hockey going on and the Sioux are nowhere to be found.

Could be worse, UND could be in the abyss visiting Miami at their house looking to build their own house.

That's what I like about this place.   Think you'll find discussion of Sartre existentialism on GPL?

Throw in gfhockey, which is another kind of abyss.
