I don't have a link, but in Schlossman's latest pod and liveinfive appearance he describes the opt in vs opt out rules and how the big difference is paying people directly. He seems to know what he's talking about

Maybe so, just haven't seen anything stating such in the literature, which all state that NIL draws its funding exclusively from private sources. We'll see how it draws out in a few years.

UND will continue to get its share of studs & be able to compete, provided they get a competent coach. Much of this doomsday talk about no longer getting elite talent is nothing more than fans overreacting. NIL has been around a few years now & the smaller schools are doing just fine.

My concern is that going forward we aren't even considered by first round picks because why would they come here when they are offered six/seven figures elsewhere. Schloss says so what who needs em, and sure you can win with a team of untalented 25 year olds, but who wants to watch that? For me, first round talent is often the difference between a Sioux team I enjoy watching and one that seems to be a chore to watch (then you have option c this years team with first rounders but still painful to watch).

Count me in.  I've never been one to care when a guy is drafted or what his age is.  If he can help us win, I'm all for it.

Or guys who are willing to just stay around to be there when and if you need them, like Wilbur.

That’s our measure of success is getting in the nchc tourney?

The Bulldogs didn't even make the conference tourney, how pathetic is that?

Why stop at 20 years?  Let's go back to 1950 or something!  ;)

So you’re arguing Berry shouldn’t be accountable because teams like Minnesota, Boston University and Michigan have a bigger budget?

Isn’t NCHC adding another team?

He's been there 25 years, If Sandy was at UND he would have been gone before he coached his 11th season.

Sandy missed 8 NCAAs before AMSOIL and 5 Since AMSOIL was built.

Sandy would have had more resources to work with in Grand Forks.

I don't think Sandy or Berry is the answer.

Benching your energy guy in favor of local-boy Montgomery just proves that this coach is clueless about how to win.

Yeah, to me, this loyal to the local boy mentality at the expense of true competition is bizarre, and much like the football Bubba paid the price for that mentality, I wouldn’t feel bad at all for Berry if his fate is sealed with that mentality.

To me, It’s not his loyalty to the local boy. It’s his obsession with going with experienced players over more talented freshmen. Before the ASU series when we were finally healthy at forward he basically admitted he would be doing this no matter how well Littler and Croal were playing. It’s so dumb.

As a coach, his first obligation to the school & his fanbase is to field the best team he has; to do otherwise is a dereliction of his duties. Great coaches don't let sentimental attachments distract them from their quest of a national title.
