bcblues
Well. Plenty of coaching points to take away from the weekend. On a positive note our PK was pretty sound against a strong opponent

Some really good UND teams haven't swept UMD in Duluth. And DU is rolling teams right now, and making it look easy.

Except heart. They're missing Blake's & Johannes' passion. No sparkplug on this team. For whatever reason, they can't find it in themselves to get motivated to play an entire game. Plus whatever Berry is telling them certainly isn't working, it's having the opposite effect.
bcblues
Cornell's rink is a dump. Historic? I don't think so. The seats are 2x8 board benches on concrete.
nodakgirl93
It's crazy how Berry has everything needed to succeed and yet still fails at times. It's really a joke how unsuccessful this program has been on the national stage since the ralph was built.

Meanwhile, the "My Oh My" show is ramping up at NDSU again. If this isn't rock bottom for UND athletics, it's pretty close. What these 2 programs need is for tomorrow to be Black Sunday and Berry and Bubba are given their walking papers. Chaves is to big of a p@$$y to do that being the weakest AD in the country. I’ll disagree with you here because Jammer is truly the heart and soul of this team. He’s the captain and is owning that role by going all in every night. He willed his way to that 2nd goal in a way no other skater on our team could have tonight.

Despite a pretty horrid offensive team showing, Jammer, James, and Boisvert had their chances. Those three stood out more than the others.

Berry gets his fair share of talented players, but for whatever reason he is unable to mold them into a cohesive unit a lot of the time. It's like having a huge jigsaw puzzle, but not knowing how to put all the pieces together. Whereas coaches like Carle have zero problems integrating everything; he innately knows how to maximize the efforts of the players he has...Having a world-class facility & elite players doesn't mean anything unless the man behind the bench can harness their talents effectively. Two, Cornell somehow managed to sweep us with their first two games of the year....you'd think we'd have a huge advantage of "playing together" versus them at this point in the season. I hope you know I am kidding.

Blackheart
Don't know what to think about Bubs...Obviously started out great leading Hak's recruits to the 2016 title. (when Hak could not in many tries) I'm sure the guy bleeds Sioux green but our NCAA record since 2016 has been atrocious. Covid screwed at least two squads out of legitmate shots at the final; one year where they canceled the tourney and the other against Duluth after Michigan got busted for being the cheating as*holes that they are. Penrose Cups are nice but this is North Dakota; we play for National Championships. I'm going to follow them the entire year but gotta say it's just a little bit frustrating losing to programs that we have traditionally dominated. WTF?
brianvf
Was hoping that Hobie would take the goalie reins with his chance tonight, but seems like both he and TJ let in some softies this weekend. Goalie battle is still alive...really hoping that one of them starts stringing together some good games in a row. Hopefully starting next weekend. The far bigger issue is offensive consistency and team d structure. Effort/heart could also be lumped in there. From what I’ve seen this year, they are no where near a championship team, but it’s early I suppose. Doesn’t pass the eye test with how they play.

90siouxfan
maybe a new alternative jersey, pink and baby blue, no logos, maybe some lace..... wear it until entire squad puts together 60 minutes.

Put him as the extra skater or leave him behind next week. He goes from one of the best nights of his career last weekend to one of his worst last night. If he had been playing hard he may have contributed to a goal; or at the least pumped up his teammates with his hustle, but no. All it takes is 1 player to not do his part & the effects ripple to the other players. Will Berry nip this problem in the bud by sitting him out a game next weekend, or not? At least it would send the team & him the message that playing hard every game is necessary for the success of this program. Then if he continues with his subpar attitude strip him of his 'A'. Coddling him & doing nothing just because he's a drafted local boy implicitly conveys the message to everyone in the locker room that putting in no effort is acceptable. Having a guy like Andrew in there instead who at least is giving his best shot is less of a liability than someone who has occasional motivation issues. Short-term it may hurt the team putting in less talented players, but in the long-term it sets the tone for everyone in the locker room that there are consequences for putting in no effort.
I Ranger
Takeaways from the weekend. We certainly didn't play well but goaltending was definitely the difference. We have a goaltending issue currently no doubt. Our D breakdowns are atrocious and we don't generate enough offensive chances to make up for it at the moment especially with an ugly PP. Lastly we got pushed around and there was no better example then in the 3rd when Cornell came down on a rush and walked our D for a scoring chance and we turned the puck around for a rush the other way and our forward tried to make a similar move on their D and got knocked right on his a$$. Playing against a heavy team like Cornell they needed him to play with an edge and use his size to try and turn the physical tide the other way.
Wilbur
1st goal: Wiebe turnover coming out of our end. 2nd goal: Rink bounce. Cornell looked like they knew about that spot. 3rd goal: Kunz turnover. Put the puck back down low.....to Cornell..... 4th goal. Wraparound after d man missed the net to the glass. Hobie has to have the wraparound. Ask yourself how badly Kunz wanted to block the shot from the point if you watch it. 5th: EN. Turnovers and d zone.
