Bad losses hurt more than good wins help. I don't care who we lose to in conference if it helps us lose the Penrose. I can finally see that it's just a Rope-a-Dope tactic by messrs Carle and Sandelin.

And at some point portal goalie has to stop. In a series like this Berry should have started Hobie on Saturday especially at home. TJ was fine on Friday but who wouldn't be with a 5-goal cushion after one. If Hobie doesn't get a few starts in the next month or so he might start looking at heading someplace where he gets to play, improve, and show how good he actually is. In general, I didn't think TJ made any saves that he wasn't supposed to on Saturday and that second PP goal from the point he should have had. Not screened at all. As you said transfer goalie crap needs to stop and develop or own goalies but hey you have to play in a game to develop.

Are we developing goalies differently than any other program in the NCAA? I don't really get why it's a big deal to get a good goalie every season. If Hobie earns his ice, he should play.

You do realize that we have won more league titles than anyone, and that the complaint for the most part isn't the regular season success, but that of the post season. People want to have it both ways, they say all that they care about are post season results, but then complain all the time when we lose games that in their eyes are basically meaningless, except to the extent that they do enough to make the NCAA tournament. I am not saying anything about league titles or NCAA tournament appearances. I merely stated that other teams don't have a problem like UND does year in and year out. There are 26 players on the team and 18 are upper classmen, they should know how to play together by now. Early season games are more important than most UND fans like to believe, that is why it is so important to come out the gate running on all cylinders. I'd also be willing to bet the coaching staff stresses how important it is to come out swinging.
dustnyou
“Year in and year out problem” lol. 59 other teams would love to have UND’s “problems”. You do realize the Sioux win more games than most everyone else right? Year after year with large roster turnaround as well. What a silly comment

In the past five seasons combined in the first five regular season games, UND is 15-8-3 and in the first 10, they are 25-11-4. 24-25 -- 3-2 in first 5 23-24 -- 4-1, 7-2-1 in first 10 22-23 -- 2-2-1, 4-4-2 21-22 -- 3-2, 7-3 20-21 - 3-1-1, 7-2-1 I think UND has performed just fine to start seasons recently. This conversation feels largely due to our poor performance against Auggie this year. Just my opinion.

If you would have told me we'd be 3-2 going into the Cornell series when this schedule first came out with Providence, Mankato, and BU to start, I think I'd be happy with that. Not perfectly happy, but certainly not mad about it.

CC was a victim of the committee going strictly by the PWR. I have to agree with Wodon and say that committee needs to make tough decisions and not be strictly by the PWR. CC should have been in, and Providence should have been out just by their records vs teams in the NCAA tournament.

Best thing about Hockey NCAA Tournament is that the the options of the Committee members don't matter when it comes to who is in and who is out. If you are the 1st team out you have nothing to complain about. You had numerus chances to get get in. Learn your lesson and play better from the beginning of the year next year. 5

Exactly, the last thing you want is bias to creep into what should be a totally impartial process. Let a team's body of work be the judge, not some guy who has an agenda. UND needs to be on their A-game in a 6-game stretch when they play Robert Morris, Bemidji & Miami..a loss against one of them will drag them down a lot. Crush the plebs & strive for a split or better against those in the royal court. 2

Normally Miami is good for a "scare" game where they play well against us...like the OT game last season after we crushed them the other games. But they have looked absolutely awful so far this season. BSU is tough because they play that damn trap defensive game and we are their world series each season. But agreed...we need to take care of business against those three teams all in a row, especially if we have a couple more hiccups against Cornell, Duluth, and Denver.
