brianvf Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Interesting stat on new goalie TJ: Quote Another interesting stat about Semptimphelter: He's never been scored upon in a shootout during his college career. Semptimphelter is 13-for-13 in stopping opponent attempts. All four shootouts came this season. He blanked Colorado College (3-for-3), Dartmouth (3-for-3), Cornell (3-for-3) and Lindenwood (4-for-4). @Oxbow6 will be happy with that, as I know he loves the shootouts. 2 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Oh my ... (per Schlossman): Quote Shootout victories can be important for positioning in the league standings, and it's possible they could factor into the Pairwise Rankings in the future as well. There will be discussions in Florida later this month about giving minimal weight to the shootout in the Pairwise. Right now, a three-on-three overtime win is considered 67 percent of a regulation win. An overtime loss is 33 percent value. A shootout would be closer to 50-50 if it's given any value at all. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Question: First-years normally help load/unload gear onto the bus. Yes, Zach Parise threw gear. What about new guys via the portal? Or do they come in as "upperclassmen" regarding pitchin' stank bags. Quote

Guess this means that we need to use Hobie for shootouts now! Quote
Benny Baker Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Hate shootouts. Maybe in basketball, the best player on each team can play H-O-R-S-E to decide the winner. In football, we’ll just have a RB stand across from a LB at the 15-yard line and see if he can score. 1 3 Quote

A tie is a legitimate result and probably what should be reflected when looking at resumes for NCAAs, which is all the Pairwise exists for. 1 Quote

Was a very interesting listen hearing him talk about how they were ultimately punished for playing at home vs the road and how the results had the effect they did on pairwise leaving them out. Quote

I think if CC had won most of their OT games in regulation instead of OT I think that may have been enough to get them in. UMass also played a lot of OT games and they were the last team in over CC. I haven’t done a deep comparison of the two teams but all the OT games between the two jumped out. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted April 4 Posted April 4 RE: comparing UMass and CC CC had the far better record against ranked and top PWR teams. Retort from UMass is "but BC and BU". And CC had quite the record against ... someone ... Quote
nodakgirl93 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 There was a cc fan who made a post in the college hockey subreddit. Someone who replied messed with the what if thing and there were quite a few games where an ot with or even a tie would have put them in the tourney. Just 1 game out of the many few. Ultimately they had some bad losses. Quote

tnt Posted April 5 Posted April 5 With the Pod system next year in the league and playing teams 4 times even less, winning the league title will be more determined on the strength of your POD any given year, so UND should be more focused on just building their game throughout the year. Probably a good thing for Western, Omaha and Miami that they are in the same pod, as Omaha and Western lose a lot, and Miami… is Miami. Denver’s pod with Arizona & CC could be good, but traditionally ours will be toughest with Duluth and St. Cloud. Hopefully that will sharpen us a little better, and we might not have to play CC and Omaha, so we can have a better record. Think Duluth will be more skilled, but young, and St. Cloud will have to replace studs on defense, and not sure if Veeti Miettinen is back or not. I won’t be sad if this means we won’t have to always play Omaha the last weekend, because I liked it when who you played was a crapshoot. Will be different for sure, and to me with even less interaction between top teams, kind of takes away from the league title. I can see a perceived weaker pod like the Omaha one next year still in the running for high league or home ice finish if they can really take advantage and beat up on their pod and play average hockey beyond that. I tell you right now, I'm not excited about the prospect of playing DU only twice during the regular season. Usually they're a pretty good guage as to where we stand in the league/nationally. Plus it gives their 20 fans a chance to see the team in green up close and personal. Quote

It does rotate, so we will see them 4 times some years, but yeah, it is a great gauge for where we need to be against a very skilled team. We obviously play them a lot better in Grand Forks. Quote
