Doesn't UND put out an official "who's coming in" release right after finals? Did I miss it? Is my memory slipping?*

*had some stuff going on in life the last month or so ...

Your memory is slipping. ;)  IRC isn't that in July when the guys hit campus?

It’s sometime in July. Most likely coinciding for when Freshman first get on campus for Summer.

I had always assumed it’s usually at some point after the NHL Draft, so this tracks.

Maybe I wishing it was July; it's been a long tough June so far.

Which is more likely? The football team making the playoffs or the hockey team actually winning a game at the NCAA regionals this year? It no longer is an easy awnser.

The hockey team will win the Regional this year. Take it to the bank.........

I believe they start the second half of the summer semester. So whenever that is. I remember having freshman hockey players in my classes before the draft.

Alright, we will be holding @Sweethockey to that prediction. I think this year's team is going to be pretty good. Great forward group. Good D-Men.

Slukynsky was #1 at Warroad.  I don't think KJ would mind switching numbers.  :whistling:

I could eat my words but a 1st round center not playing center? I just don’t see that. Wilkie at W too? I do like the lineup though…I’d just move a lot of pieces around :)

With how much Omac struggled on draws last year, move him to LW?

I mean, who comes off center? I guess you could flip Jammer and Wilkie. OMac could certainly come off C and play wing.

Perron - Berg - Kunz
Boisvert - OMac - Swanson
James - Jammer - Wilkie

Zmolek - Livanvage
Wiebe - Emery

Semptimphelter

Mine is similar:

Perron - Berg - Swanson
OMac - Boisvert - Kunz
James - Wilkie - Strinden
Jammer - Schmaltz - Croal
Littler/Andrew/Monty

Zmolek - Livanavage
Wiebe - Emery
MacDonald - Strathmann
Komak - Jubenvill

Sempti
Hobie
Cheese

Perron and Berg can finish.  Putting Swanson with them could be really fun to watch.
Put a big body Kunz with Omac and Boisvert.  Kunz retrieves the puck, OMac dishes it, Boisvert buries it.
A lot of skill and speed on that 3rd line.  Other teams will have a hard time containing them.
Hard workers and some grit on the 4th.

I’ve always questioned Berg at C as he isn’t very rangy. I realize he’s ok at draws, but when you watch him he’s 100% a shoot first wing. I doubt he plays C after college. I think it really depends on if Omac improves at draws, that’ll give them more options. Side note, curious how Strinden shows up this year. He’s probably done more with less ice time than anyone on the team.

Mine is not terribly different from some of the others.

Omac-Berg-Perron
James-Boisvert-Swanson
Kunz-Wilkie-Strinden
Schmaltz-Jammer-Croal

Andrew-Monty-Littler

Livanavage-Zmolek
Macdonald-Emery
Strathmann-Wiebe

Jubenvill-Komzak

Semptimphelter
Hedquist
Johnson

What I have above would be a #1 line with a lot of experience and potential. We need one line loaded to get points reliably each night.  Boisvert at center due to his grip strength, size, and high ceiling seems right while moving Omac and Schmaltz to the wings.

The 2nd line would be a combo of guys that play with great speed/pace together while the 3rd line is very heavy and hard but has scoring threats. IMO the 2nd and 3rd lines are interchangeable as far as TOI goes

4th line would be a great shutout and high energy line with guys that play solid 200 foot games.  Sounds like Croal is an absolute animal and competitor, even though he’s not huge. I’d see Littler challenging him for the other slot on the 4th line

Regarding defense, I think the 2nd and 3rd pairing would be similar for TOI but Wiebe is solid on the right side and is comfortable there even for a lefty which is why I have him in that side. Also guessing Jubenvill get plenty of reps, I can see him and littler being the extra skater a lot of games this year

I like these combos and they might've been what I said when we first were throwing combos up a couple months ago but I can't remember. One of the biggest things I'm looking for is trying to put guys together that play at the same pace, feels like too often we have had a guy that just seems out of place on a line because he isn't as good of a skater and he opts to dump a puck and try to play along the boards when he had another forward with him looking to create with his speed.

Similar pace is exactly what I was going for here because I completely agree with how we’ve balanced lines somewhat incorrectly before.

I wouldn't expect a regular lineup card with a freshman center before Christmas; nor would I expect two freshman forwards together until then.

After Christmas if you're still playing like a freshman you're not playing.
